    Restaurant Comings & Goings

I just walked over to the 1 York Food Hall to get some lunch and it’s “Closed for the Sunmer Season”. What? It’s still May?!? Maybe they need their staff for the Eaton Centre?

    Toronto Parliament Slip | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto | West 8

The top rendering on both articles definitely does not show a 56 storey residential tower there. Still that bowl thing they used to indicate something fancy and cultural. https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2024/05/56058/56058-171579.jpeg

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

As always, it comes back to the price of housing.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

A toll or congestion charge would pretty much solve the biggest problems with the Gardiner. It would allow people who need their vehicle downtown to be economically productive to make that choice and not sit in traffic for an hour. If you don't, park it and find an alternative.

    LCBO / The Beer Store

I’m not sure exactly what you mean by those terms, but do you think canada has more disreputable types who would like to either (a) consume alcohol at an age lower than 19; or (b) make money by selling it to those people than any other country? Hungary in particular?!?

    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

I supervise legal work across the country, so often have to review material that’s from Quebec which has been drafted in French and will be finalized and filed in French. Of course, I don’t speak high level French at the level required to review legal wroting. The big law firms now have LLM...

    Toronto Bike Share

The figure I’ve seen is that a bike share type bike costs around $1500 to acquire in bulk. But AG is right that it wouldn’t be your best choice if buying a bike. I’m biased, but a Brodie is :)

A lot of junior lawyer work is already being shrunk by AI capabilities.

    Zoning Reform Ideas

DESPICABLE is coming out. Nice to know what he thinks about people who live in apartments. Mouldy and despicable!

    Toronto 19 Bloor West | 317.4m | 99s | Reserve Properties | Arcadis

For years, the city has said it doesn't care about elevator numbers because it's not a "safety issue". https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/aura-elevators-1.3704910

    Zoning Reform Ideas

I’d improve TTC service and lower interest rates :)

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

And a good strategy is to make sure your bike is slightly worse and your lock is slightly better than the other bikes around. My city bike is pretty bland looking (though it's tuned up well) and I have a good, but not necessarily top of the line lock. I have those unique keys for all the major...

    Zoning Reform Ideas

I generally agree with Alex, but given the city is unlocking 31,000 lots for experimentation, the tone should be "This is an important step, let's get it passed and look at how we can get people to build within these parameters, then look at what to unlock next." Even if you think it's totally...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

In busy downtown areas it's pretty safe. I leave my bike parked in front of the office towers during the day without worrying.

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

And if we are in such a dire situation that we are going to actively support people to live in tents on public land, it shouldn't be in Trinity Bellwoods, St. James, Dufferin Grove, etc. Of course, designating a park as a specific location for permanent encampments comes with its own set of...

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

If the strategy was to help people move out of encampments and into housing, it could be described as putting people first. But the strategy appears to be "enhanced supports for people living [in?] encampments", which is an extremely band-aid approach to the problem. Sometimes a band-aid is...

    Toronto Bike Share

They’ve got three valets stationed at Bay and King now, which seems to be working well. Not many people on the e-bikes wearing helmets, which I believe is required by law.

    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Znaimer's probably mad that Weston grabbed the last free parking spot in front of Greg Sorbara's birthday party in the Annex.

Soon the downtown core will be nothing but coffee shops and food halls, and I’m here for it.
