    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

It should help smooth traffic flow in the meanwhile and also build both of the bridges over Major Mackenzie now that would be needed in the future to carry Hwy 427.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I'm guessing the main ramp would have to be removed and traffic would use the normal offramp to access Major Mackenzie:

There is an official flyover video now from the builders: Paving has started on some sections and some of the new bridges are complete. From here: http://427expansion.ca/about-link-427/videos/

Roads: Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration (City of Toronto, UC)

The lanes are narrow and the curve radii are small. You can't really go much faster than the posted speed limit of 40 in this stretch. Check it out on Streetview: https://goo.gl/maps/enARoEtWsTG6Mder7 There is even a raised cycle track. It's like an urban planning student's wishlist come true!

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Work starts on the rehab of the Gardiner between Jarvis and Cherry Sts with closure of the WB offramp to York/Bay/Yonge for reconstruction starting tonight: https://www.cp24.com/news/it-will-no-doubt-be-disruptive-yonge-bay-york-off-ramp-from-wb-gardiner-to-close-1.4508183 First part of the...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The NB lanes of the Red Hill Valley Parkway (Hamilton) are closed for 3 weeks as improvements are made in the face of a $250M class action lawsuit on behalf of drivers who have crashed on the highway since its opening in 2007 blaming slippery asphalt. Closures of the SB lanes will follow later...

I believe the current construction is just the advance utility relocation work. Maybe some other environmental stuff perhaps.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Couldn't find this posted here yet but the QEW/Credit River bridge twinning project between Mississauga Rd and Hurontario St will now be an Infrastructure Ontario Design-Build project: https://www.infrastructureontario.ca/QEW-Credit-River-Bridge-Project/ Hopefully this gets the HOV extension to...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Isn't the whole idea of an Eglinton West connection to the airport redundant since it will connect to UPX at Mount Dennis station anyways? Mount Dennis to UPX would be so much faster to get to the airport than staying on an LRT. Eglinton West seems to be waste of money for such low...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Having a 6 lanes side by side will operate poorly compared to 3 express and 3 collector. So I am glad the province is extending the express/collector system to Milton with HOV as a bonus. I know there are also longer term plans to do the same to Oshawa (but likely without HOV). People also...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Hard to imagine why BC would have 120 km/h limits on two lane highways curving through mountain valleys while ON has 80 km/h limits on flat straight roads through farmlands.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

EB express lanes closed from where they start at Kipling to past Hwy 400, in rush hour, which is insane. Add that to the ongoing 427 SB lane closures at Bloor for emergency work, it was pretty nasty out there.

Roads: Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration (City of Toronto, UC)

See the intersection of Kipling and Dundas in the attached. If you can show me a bike friendly 6 lane road intersection design I would be delighted to see it. Even Hwy 7 in Markham only has bike lanes East-West (nothing North-South).

Roads: Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration (City of Toronto, UC)

Now how should this look at an intersection with two 6 lane roads at all approaches? Keep in mind this is a major intersection that will have a lot of trucks turning, etc. etc.

Roads: Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration (City of Toronto, UC)

The final design is more squared than the temporary configuration currently in place. Also, even though the curve is 6 lanes wide, due to the tight radius and posted speed limit of 40 traffic is driving fairly slow. Not to mention, all of the additional traffic signals will limit speeding.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

This would be a key, almost underrated improvement in the provincial highway network as this corridor handles so much commerce transport. Completing this by the time the Gordie Howe bridge crossing is ready would be a huge boost for the province.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Look, this is a highway thread, we don't care about the nitpicking of an "Ontario Line" name that connects Ontario Science Centre and Ontario Place. Where were the QEW/Gardiner and 401 announcements?!?!

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Pretty sure the section between Jarvis and Cherry is being re-built as is over the next two years. No new pillars. Just a deck replacement to maintain the existing lane arrangement (same as was done west of Spadina).

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

Keep in mind York Region is not Toronto. Transit along all of these routes is not feasible due to population density so some road widening will be the best course of action. "Induced demand" parrots look foolish when they are against ANY form of road widening, particularly in extra...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Yikes this is become a loooong procurement process. RFP was issued Aug 2017. https://www.infrastructureontario.ca/Hurontario-Light-Rail-Transit/ Oh well, as long as it's done right! I don't think the loop is a huge loss. It added some much complexity and time to the overall route. The...
