I would love an event here before it is demolished, getting to see the decay inside these buildings is so cool!

Yeah, this is appalling, there are some projects that fully deserve to be approved that get sidelined, and then this thing goes up and truly ruins this intersection.

Pinnacle on Adelaide has nice materials. I'm not saying there's anything special about the form, but it is well clad compared to this building.

You're probably right, but it's still awful that the architectural styling is being compromised for no good reason. In a city with the slogan "Diversity Our Strength" there is surprisingly little architectural diversity in the core. It drives me nuts to see these beautifully clad buildings...

Those pump-cretes always remind me of some giant insect sucking nectar or sometime. I can only imagine how much time they save compared to pouring bucket by bucket.

Is that a joke? If you want an example that statement might apply to I suggest looking up the street to One Bloor, or to Pinnacle on Adelaide for a similar form. This building is okay in the purest sense of the term.

The cladding isn't the strongest at the upper section, but the interesting form and the other materials make up for it. I like it a lot!

There's no where else in the city that needs to lose a lane of traffic than Yonge downtown. The sidewalks are crazy packed and it's almost dangerous during rush hour. I can't believe how narrow the sidewalks are. If you think of the sheer numbers of people walking compared to people in cars, it...

I live right around the corner, I think it should look okay. Fits the gentle density targets I'd say. It will look big for a while but Oben Flats on Sherbourne should balance it out.

Can we run a least favourite new building poll at the end of the year? I'm all for highlighting the best of the year, but we should be allowed to criticize developers that make objectively bad impacts on the city.

This is a damn shame. There needs to be some heritage protection for buildings from this era, people are going to look back at the original cladding the way we look at demolished heritage buildings now.

It's funny looking at photos of the city from above, you can really see that the east end hasn't gone up nearly as much as the west. I guess that's changing now, hopefully it leads to some nice architecture.

I think this might be a candidate for the worst materials award.

Ooooh I didn't realize it would be slender from the east/west, nice!

    Toronto One Bloor East | 257.24m | 76s | Great Gulf | Hariri Pontarini

And that might be nicest intersection in the whole city! Could be Montreal's Plateau, I love it.

    Good eye! Looks really cool.

My apologies, I hadn't read the rest of the thread. I'm okay with it being covered with orange glass.
