    Rob Ford's Toronto

“The advisory panel is a biased panel, we all know that, we know what they’re going to say,†Ford said in a Sheppard Ave. E. parkette during a pro-subway event. “I listen to the residents, the taxpayers — the people that pay our wages. They’re the boss.†The people on the advisory...

Is the promenade still owned by the city?

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Is today's news of a lawsuit to remove Ford from office, the "something else big coming"? Or is there still something in the wings?

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Ford is going to treat this loss as a loss to the taxpayer of Toronto. Which means he'll be in campaign mode for the next 3 years. Nothing the Fords hate more than losing. He's going to dig in deep and fight hard, because as far as he's concerned, councillor's opinions, motions, votes and...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

What do Nick Kouvalis, George Christopoulos and Dimitri Soudas have in common? They are all Greek Canadians. As is Tony Clement. As I'm I. The difference between them and me? They display a trait among some of my male Greek relatives and friends, one which I thankfully was able to avoid by...

    Toronto Union Park | 303.26m | 58s | Oxford Properties | Pelli Clarke Pelli

Oxford has been renovating the R/A centre, but other than that, what have they recently built in Toronto? They have been trying to redevelop the Concourse Building with little success. 3 different proposals in the past decade. What are the chances of anything on the scale of Hudson yards ever...

Good point. Wishful thinking on my part.

If the show is as one sided as I think it's going to be, as in propaganda, I suspect the CRTC will probably get enough complaints to suspend 1010's broadcast license.

    Toronto Curio by Hilton Distillery District | 115.1m | 31s | Gupta | Arcadis

Not sure why the height concerns considering a couple of hundred metres away are two buildings being built that are taller. Wrong side of the street?

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Given his personal preference, I bet you Ford would rather have expressways built than public transit. Can't recall when, but I do recall at some point during his time as a councillor, he was a big fan of the CAA's "Mobility Express" plan. Actually, much of Ford's transit vision, Sheppard...

    Toronto Curio by Hilton Distillery District | 115.1m | 31s | Gupta | Arcadis

The panel had no qualms with the building itself — they praised its "beautiful, world-class" Reject a building that you think is "beautiful, world-class", because it's size might set a precedents for poorer buildings to be built in the future. I'm confused. Isn't it the DRP's job to approve...

All the white could be frosted glass, ala Tiff. Hopefully a different manufacturer.

    Toronto building boom

I wasn't thinking taller, just more distictive. Recent examples - CCTV in Beijing, Swiss Reinsurance, London Bridge Tower, 8 Spruce St. Even Marina City in Chicago and Transamerica Pyramid in SF are iconic in a way. I agree the CN Tower is iconic. New City Hall is as well. I consider the...

    Toronto 2030

I disagree that plans like GTM are the way of the future. The idea of highway expansion to improve movement with an urban area, is more than 1/2 a century old and has been proven ineffective. In my dreams: Localized, self sufficient communities are going to come of age in the next few...

    Toronto building boom

I was thinking, by the number of project, the current building boom in Toronto isn't much different than what was happening in NYC 90 years ago. NYC boom during the teens, 1920's and early 1930's, steadily produced the high-rise density that became iconic. The big difference? Population...

    Hi-Res 360° Aerial Panorama

These pano's confirm my opinion, that our city isn't really that attractive. Parts are, but for the most part, it's pretty much like most comparably North America city, auto centric and uninteresting!

    Rob Ford's Toronto

If council's decision on transit is irrelevant, then why isn't Ford's plan also irrelevant? Unless of course, Ford thinks being mayor, as being above the majority of council. In which case he must have been asleep all these years as a councillor, because he obviously miss the part were majority...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Bill Davis was an MP from Peel region. He was minister of Education in the 60's and premier in the 70's. He had little to do with building Subways in Toronto. He did however, want to and started to build this thing called the Spadina Expressway.

    Toronto Globe and Mail Headquarters: Never-Built | ?m | 18s | The Globe and Mail | KPMB

It appears as though the building is raised off the ground. If that were true, it would create an interesting urban space. Kind of a covered square. Just to dream a bit, if the ceiling of the space were one gaint media screen, dishing out the day's news in real time, then that would be something.

    Toronto Ten York Street Condos | 224.02m | 65s | Tridel | Wallman Architects

If this pace of development is sustained for the next 30 years, we build a dozen or so supertalls and NYC development grinds to a halt - well then it wouldn't be so much of a joke. Although, we are starting to get a core density similar to Chicago, minus the supertalls and great architecture.
