Mods, the name of this thread should be changed to Loblaws/Joe Fresh/Retail and not a Real Canadian Superstore. They are also adding an additional storey to the building on the roof for office space,so 4s?
Well, I walked by yesterday and they had started putting up studs and block in some of the openings. Once they are done that, insulation and board, windows, then brickwork. Still a while to go, suggest April/May for start of brickwork at grade.
You weren't there AG, the design was beyond boring. The OAA should be notified that one of their members made +125 people fall asleep when discussing their design presentation. Freed should be embarassed.
All good points, then perhaps a hobby cinema/theatre for Galen- "the Weston Theatre" sounds good to me.
If it is not a cinema, then what would you suggest to add life to the corner?
NEWSFLASH
This development is going to be marketed as all Minto. Freed is going to be way in the background on this one. That sorta tells me that nothing special is coming architecturally as Freed will not want to be idenitified with something plain.

I do expect to see as a minimum the same building height as 400 Wellington (11 to 12-storey) on the south Wellington side of the street, with perhaps a 20ish storey tower at the north-west corner of Front/Spadina (Toyota Dealer). It's likely going to be a deal of some sort to limit heights on...

You can forget about having the rendering from the marketing guys seeing any reality. Those "red curtains" were supposed to be included in the suites in a combo of lighting and curtains but all of that has disappeared. No lighting, no curtains, so homeowners will just do what they want as usual...
Let's not get carried away here. Most trades by noon Thursday are done for the year. I would think the complete fifth floor is end of first week January,
Not in the condo business, but been around enough big construction. I am not sure why that slab was so thick, didnt seem economical at all. Perhaps the truck loading areas had some impact - the slab was 6' thick.
The existing facade at 620 king is fake and has absolutely no historic value. The original rendering did not reuse any part of this building.
I like the new rendering.
Good luck selling it though, at 2100 sqft units to start, that's pricey for Yorkville, no less King West at Portland.

Absolutely way too tall. Cabo is just trying to get approval to flip later - another local resident thought this as well at the Adam Vaughan meeting a few months back.
Bring on the fight Cabo!
My previous prediction on the last concrete pour was sometime in March 2011, but that was before I saw that massive 6ft thick main floor slab which was insane in the amount of rebar and its complexity to the surrounding walls. That slowed them down at least an additional 4-6 weeks. The new S'Bus...
