Politics: Tim Hudak's Plan for Ontario if he becomes Premier

Michael Chong for PC leader. I could support a guy like him.

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

I have a hard time believing that a tanking HSR line connecting London-KW-Pearson-Union would be saved by adding a station in Brampton.

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

I think that satellite terminals with subway access will be the solution to Toronto's regional rail problems.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

How much of an impact will electrification have on the number of crews required to operate 15 minute service on the Lakeshore Line (considering electric locomotives/EMUs present travel time savings due to faster acceleration/any other travel speed increases as a result of track upgrades)?

Cycling: Segregated Bike Lanes on Eglinton

Transportation consulting firms have more scientific ways of counting cyclists. I think the economic, environmental, health and social impacts of implementing cycle lanes on Eglinton aren't being considered. Everyone is focused solely on cycle lanes increasing auto travel times, that no one...

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

Here's hoping we can get a provincial election out of the way and get moving with high speed rail investments and GO electrification.

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

I agree with you about the BD subway issue. The political nature of urban/transportation planning is the shittiest part of the job, as you'll propose something based on the facts, only to have that proposal recreated by a politician looking to score points. I don't agree with using Brampton's...

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

Disclaimer: I regularly take the GO train from Kitchener to Brampton GO, so I am not anti-Brampton. I hope that whichever firm(s) end up doing the various studies on this line will be able to decipher the types of ridership originating/terminating in each of the markets. If Brampton's market is...

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

I think this is fairly accurate. There has been a shift away from Waterloo and into Kitchener for some tech companies, but the more established firms like OpenText and BlackBerry remain in Waterloo. On that note, Google and Desire2Learn (not the smallest players on the block) are both expanding...

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

I see this "announcement" as being the precursor to GO/MX purchasing the Guelph Subdivision in its entirety, allowing them to upgrade the tracks and possibly double track the corridor. This may not necessarily result in true high speed rail, but it should cut travel times along the entire...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Hopefully Ford continues to attack Soknacki in debates. IMO, Soknacki getting attacked by Ford is a good thing for his name recognition. If Ford's against it, it must be good! haha

Similar to the Maple Leaf lounge for Air Canada.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

That's about as relevant as the Chow co-op housing thing. In other news, Tory said that he's unwilling to take down the Gardiner if it increases commute times. This is not the Civic Action John Tory that got me pumped for the next election.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Just image...if Rob Ford loses the election, there'll be no more Rob, no more Doug, no more Mammoliti (if Soknacki ran in Mammo's ward and won) at council. The world would be a better place lol.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

    Mammolitis' ward! ;)

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

I think it would be awesome to see Soknacki back on council. He would probably be able to do great things under either Chow or Tory.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

With Rob Ford polling so high, my question is who are these citizens of Ford Nation? A poll from The Star a few weeks ago placed Rob Ford at 28%. I'm sure that any sensible person who considers themselves "fiscally conservative" would ditch Rob Ford and support either Tory, Soknacki or Stintz...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Interesting to see the group go after the province, which has been relatively pro-transit. Why didn't they direct their attacks on the Feds? The feds could surely help the TTC just as much as the province.

    2014 Municipal Election: Brampton

I hope that whoever is elected Mayor of Brampton will be open to this idea: http://www.thestar.com/bigideas/work_economy/2014/03/24/big_ideas_get_municipalities_in_gta_to_work_together.html Big Ideas: Get municipalities in GTA to work together If Toronto, Mississauga and others could stop...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I agree with this. Even if Metrolinx wants to fund the western portion before going to Eglinton, would it not be smarter to build the Don Mills station on Eglinton in a way that accommodates the DRL, to save money in the long run?
