    TTC: New Fare Gate Installation

The gates run Windows 10 actually.

    VIA Rail

All those proposals require significant levels of capital investment, and VIA is as far as I know prohibited from working with private investors or provincial governments to raise funds. For Saskatoon-Regina the Craik sub would have to be essentially rebuilt for passenger service (it's...

'Fare Free Transit'? Will it work in the GTHA

The biggest problem with introducing zone fares on the subway but not local transit is that would require stations to be reconfigured to move bus and streetcar loops out of the fare paid zone, and would require turnstiles to be shoehorned in a lot of stations. Currently it's possible to ride the...

Questions regarding "transit cabotage" and routes post subway extension

Yes. This arrangement predates the creation of Mississauga transit by several decades. The route originally connected Malton to the trolleybuses on Weston road and later to the Spadina subway.

Questions regarding "transit cabotage" and routes post subway extension

TTC service in Mississauga and York Region is provided under contract (and mostly predates the creation of the suburban transit agencies), Toronto has no say in service levels and does not pay the subsidies. Effectively the buses become Miway or YRT vehicles when the cross the boundary. The...

    TTC: New Fare Gate Installation

The new gates have been ridiculously unreliable, and I'm betting the TTC or Metrolinx will end up having to completely replace them all. FWIW some of the original electromechanical turnstiles from the 50's and 60's (made by Beaver Vending) worked reliably for decades.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

In the past, the old single track loop at Dundas West served the King car and the Dundas car in two directions, to downtown and Runnymede, all at higher frequencies than today.

    TTC: New Fare Gate Installation

The gates are made by Scheidt and Bachmann. I'm not sure if they're actually made in Germany or not, I think they have a plant in the US.

    Intercity Bus Services

The Russell's Guide is probably the closest thing available to a comprehensive intercity bus map. I think the reference library still has a subscription.

    Intercity Bus Services

HMT = Hammond Transportation. They run a Barrie - Orillia commuter service. I think it was a PMCL service back in the day but don't quote me on that.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

It is literally impossible to expand the turning radius of the tracks, there is not enough room in the intersections. This wasn't even the main issue, Siemens placed a compliant bid and Skoda has a 100% low floor car with steerable trucks that can handle a 15m radius off the shelf. And...
