Let's see... It's still a construction site, no one lives in the building yet, only one or two stores are open... Yeah, it should be Times Square by now. What's taking so long?

As I mentioned way back in this thread... It was never a capital "L" with the boot from Yonge Street.... It was a Capital "J"... And yes, it still makes a REAL capital "L" when you only consider the Esplanade facade.

Ummm... Am I missing something??? This looks like an M.C. Escher drawing. The line from the roof of the Toronto Star building would not intersect the tall building on the corner of Freeland and Lakeshore. It would transect the tallest of the four towers (Corner of Yonge and Lakeshore) somewhere...

*Looks like they will have to raise it several more times before it's completed... (from Aura webcam found Here ) * Caution: Future image may appear larger than actually is. It is only a rough guess.

22 years ago I lived at 545 Sherbourne on the 21st floor and somewhere I have photos of Niagara falls that look almost the same. People in Toronto never look across the lake, but you don't have to be very high up and you can easily see the Skylon tower if you know where to look.

I refuse to lament for the overly greedy Canadian retail sector that (which for years) inexplicably overcharged for the exact same merchandise. No wonder high-end brands never came to Canada. The retailers here would have charged such an exorbitant price-point that they could never have...

    Toronto: Boomtown

This video will give some of our younger members an idea of what Boom-Time construction used to be like: Produced by Leslie McFarlane at the NFB in 1951. http://www.nfb.ca/film/toronto_boom_town/ (Courtesy of the National Film Board found HERE )

I believe its primary purpose is actually as a reservoir for the building's water supply. The water pressure in Toronto's main lines would not be sufficient to supply water to the high floors and no pump could keep up with demand at high usage times, such as early morning shower time and dinner...

LMAO!!! And upon closer inspection you will note it is actually a podium elevator shaft and not just a kick-ass column. (Close-up of someMidTowner's pic found HERE )

Steveve is in New York and claims he has taken pics and vids of the One57 crane dangling just above him! Can't wait to see that.

I'm sure this guy will get lots of use out of it. ;) As for humans, it will be devoid of life unless the raised area leads to somewhere and gives reason for people to ascend the stairs from Yonge Street. If there are no entrances to the Sony Centre off the "Square" and no benches to have your...

One question I would like answered: With a foundation open so long to the elements, such as rain and the freeze/thaw cycle, how can the the structure remain sound? After all, just a little bit of water damage can undermine a house's foundation to the point that a a contractor must intervene. Why...

Just for fun I thought I hash together a "What If" version of one of stevedominick's pictures from his office window. Don't be too critical... I'm a little off my game with this one.

I would fire the Ice Sculpture company that did the model of L... The curve appears to be on the East side of the tower in relation to the notched base on the Southwest corner. Hurumph!

It may just be my interpretation of the render (Which is woefully inaccurate as far as perspective to the extant surroundings) but I get the impression this "Park" is nothing more than a very large Green Roof over a very large Mall and Convention Centre. So any hopes of having ground-level...

Does anyone on UT remember this proposal for the railway right of way? Toronto Waterfront Viaduct One of the most fanciful and elegant solutions to the Gardiner Expressway and rail lands. If they could meld this with the Foster plan and casino, then we would have something!
