    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

The west extension needed to be grade-separated from the start, considering it's supposed to connect with service to Pearson Airport and into Mississauga, not just fading out into suburbia like Eglinton East. Is it tunnelled for too long? Probably, yes. But the two ends of Eglinton aren't all...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I feel like there's a big difference between a cost-effective design and value engineering. Metrolinx's render doesn't look that bad, considering what kinds of bridges we're used to seeing in the GTA.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Ooh! I have a lot to say about the Bradford Bypass, so let me try and break down some of Northern Light's last post... The Highway 400 - 9th Line bridge is a no-brainer, even if this project gets cancelled. Not only would the bridge need to be widened to accommodate the HOV lanes, but driving...

Roads: Highway 407 East (Durham Region)

There's already a great direct connection from the 407 to the 401. It's called Highway 418. It's sufficient as a bypass goes, and trying to push the 407 past it would just make it a (bigger?) white elephant. I believe the more glaring "hole" at the end of Highway 407 is the brief segment of...

I picked up what you were putting down; I just wanted to rip on this proposal some more.

    Toronto 2350 Yonge | 166.65m | 50s | Bazis | Rosario Varacalli

I don't think it's fair to call this a value-adding proposal; there's nothing of value in this proposal. The retail being replaced with five different entrances is bewildering, and putting in a turntable loading area is a total joke. This is Midtown Toronto, not Midtown Manhattan - are we really...

    Toronto 123 Wynford Drive | 176.95m | 52s | Originate | Kirkor

Why would anyone want to live there, anyways? It's a nearly completely car-dependent lot with no nearby amenities. Closest grocery store is across the DVP. And I hate the architecture of it - it looks like acoustic foam. I know it's supposed to be Japanese-inspired, but it just does not work here.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Exactly this. Bradford is also rebuilding the 10th Sideroad and 5th Line to make a better-paved road with a gradual curve north into the west end of town. It will be a more convenient and safer interchange for the vast majority of residents - including myself. Farmers in the Holland Marsh are...

    Orangeville-Brampton Railway (OBRY)

It's fine, they can just handle all the new traffic that will come from Caledon on an eight-lane urban boulevard with median truck lanes. Brampton gonna Brampton.

    Pickering Pickering City Centre | 174m | 55s | CentreCourt | Diamond Schmitt

Nothing says "urban" like a sterile, flat lawn. That, combined with the scrapping of the performance arts centre, is disappointing but not unexpected.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I'm hopeful that in the end, we'll get the Cummer Station, and maybe a shallower alignment that bulldozes the Royal Orchard neighbourhood.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Jane and Finch desperately needs reinvestment, but uprooting the existing community would be a huge loss for Toronto's culture and heritage, not to mention not actually solving the problem of poverty among its residents - who would now be forced to be poor somewhere else. I just hope that the...

    Toronto 2823 Eglinton East | 49.3m | 14s | 2872136 Ontario Inc | Arcadis

The latest article for this proposal is very generous with the definition of "along Eglinton LRT route". Even the renders show curbside bus lanes instead. The density's fine, but I could have made that render. It's hopelessly bland and unattractive; not even the single tree's worth of wood...

    Toronto Crosstown Community | 135.02m | 44s | Aspen Ridge | Sweeny &Co

Correct. Naming the extension Wynford Drive would have resulted in the entire street being renumbered, since address numbers increase the further east you go from Don Mills... unless they went with "Wynford Drive West" but I prefer Moriyama Drive, personally.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Beautiful building. I love the mixing of different kinds of masonry. I went to Google Maps to see what it looks like today, and yeesh! It looks like a school portable! Nothing of value lost here.

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

If they're really stretching to justify an LRT here, my thoughts are that it might be better to give Kingston Road rapid transit service from East Toronto to Morningside, and just have a terminal for transferring to Eglinton East and/or Markham Road. That would cover more ground, but also it...

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

Because all GO buses run on weekends?

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

There's no need. There are already LINX buses from Barrie to Wasaga Beach via Angus and Stayner, and from Wasaga Beach to Collingwood. There's no need for an intermediate step of GO buses along the route before any train service.

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

I think you're underestimating how quickly growth is coming to Simcoe County. Barrie, Bradford, and Alliston are filling out fast, and there's no way Innisfil can soak up all of the demand. By the time the rails are back in place in Essa and beyond, there will be a decently-sized commuter base...
