Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Look how big the footprint of the APM/streetcar interchange is at queens quay. There is even a maintenance facility north of the station. That probably explains why the costs are nearly the same

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Theres no way youre getting a surface streetcar on bay st. The financial district bia and their members are the most powerful people in the country and they need those vehicle lanes for their porsches and uber pickup. Also under bay is problematic because there is the path network and subway and...

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Double ended seems like a good enough idea to explore, but i doubt its that easy. You would probably need at least 3 stub end tracks and platforms underground at union to serve the demand and not sure there is enough space there plus a crossover in the tunnel plus TTC will need to order new...

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

So the demand between union station and queens quay is up to 8000. Thats higher than the SSE and many sections of the existing subway network.

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Why would you add all of this complexity when the biggest cost and demand is at union station? This makes service into union worse in every way and you probably would save no more than $50M, which is chump change compared to the whole thing

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Double ended streetcars probably cant accommodate demand at union station without at least three or four stub tracks. Not to mention likely maintenance complications with ordering a totally new fleet for only one line

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

The loop expansion happens under Canadas busiest rail corridor and there are many many columns holding it up. Look at the drawings from the 2010 east bayfront ea

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Something tells me the streetcar might have constructability issues, working under the rail corridor and all. The people mover may be the only way to get something built.

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

The impact to the condo beside the Humber, the cost of a new bridge over the river, and the fact that the colborne lodge alignment lines up nicely with a chance to connect to Humber Loop hub and a potential fiture queensway Lrt service. Thats why

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

This plan involves major underground expansion construction under canadas largest rail corridor and transit station, including removing and replacing major support columns, which you can see clearly on the plan. Im not a structural engineer, but from the little i know about this, the complexity...

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

Does anyone know if public consultation is planned any time soon on this?

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Slow your roll on the name calling, the waterfront funicular is a waterfront toronto idea, according to Andy Byford at the TTC board mtg of Nov 13.

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

I dont see how you can justify a subway to "anywhere" in the west when the ridership to south etobicoke is less than 2000 in 2041. Maybe connecting up to bd around dundas west but we have yet to see those ridership #s

Union Station LRT Loop Reconfiguration (TTC, Proposed)

I think it is clear that cost is playing a part into why these alternative options are on the table. Option B is intriguing from the perspective of potential PATH expansion (although perhaps the existing tunnel is a bit too narrow) , which is a major reason why Downtown Toronto has become the...

    Waterfront: Lower Yonge Precinct Plan

I was referring to SB am demand from Union, which is probably the peak ridership on this line. The streetcars are full at Union and even now I guess perhaps up to half get off at Queen's Quay station. With lower yonge still much to be developed, that percentage probably grows

    Waterfront: Lower Yonge Precinct Plan

It may be true that the main travel pattern is to/from Union, but my guess is that the majority of those are only going one stop to from Queens Quay. May not make sense to spend so much money for a one stop desire line. This is why the moving sidewalk is on the table

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Your point of Queens park funding all of Torontos LRTs is false. Queens park has barely funded half of transit city. For example, waterfront and jane lrt plans are collecting dust, and don mills morphed into dt relief line which is also unfunded.

    Rail Deck Park (?, ?, ?)

Go Transit is not the only railway entity using the USRC.
