GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Actually the region is very interested. It has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on studies for Cambridge go. The problem is that the Region is in a money crunch and does not even have the money to build Kitchener central Station. This is ML's chance to step in with the $$. Side note - it...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I think there are benefits from a GO train stop at the Kitchener boardwalk. @KevinT I know you are from Kitchener do you have any thoughts Justification: 1. Municipality owned land at the boardwalk 2. Major bus terminal in the vicinity 3. significant density coming in in that area ex 4. Was...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Hello All: This is my proposal for go buses classifications/ ideal routing: Generally: -Regional buses are meant to be used when it is infeasible to use trains -Also supposed to supplement regional trains -Buses meant to be time competitive with trains and car (1.5X time of car max)...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

It sucks that Waterloo does not have enough money for the New Station and upper levels of Government haven't funded the difference. While York Region somehow always has money for bad projects (Bloomington, Cornell Station). Additionally Guelph wants to build a bus station at the West End...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

What im talking about is a temp shuttle while the capabilities for 2wadgo to Toronto built. Just because the Brampton bottleneck exists doesn't mean that Kitchener -Guelph service should be be completely dependent on that work. In the long term, there should be enough demand for 15 minutes...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I'm thinking GO should run hourly Kitchener - Guelph shuttle service . (long before 2dawgo) This is entirely possible with the existing track. Kitchener - Guelph have a 0% transit share despite having 30,000 people travel between the two daily (more people than kitchener - toronto travel). the...

commuter Bus/Rail Kitchener London and Hamilton: Ideas

@robmausser I think the big thing is we need to add stations between Stratford and kitchener. I know plenty of people who live here and commute to dt kitchener. I think 30 min off peak frequency would be good. (rather than the hourly proposed)

commuter Bus/Rail Kitchener London and Hamilton: Ideas

There are Cambridge Brantford and Brantford -hamilton rail trail corridors. These should take one from he ion to the Hamilton lrt. these were previously interurban routes actually. You might be interested in the Grand River Railway which is pretty much what you describe

commuter Bus/Rail Kitchener London and Hamilton: Ideas

Kitchener London, Hamilton are large cities and will have mass transit options. In Europe, they would also have their own S-bahn type system with 15 minute frequencies all day. this thread is for commuter Bus/Rail fantasies for Kitchener London and Hamilton What inspired this:

    General railway discussions

the point of this proposal is to create a Calgary airport- downtown train and commuter train (not really a banff train) .It is hard to be time competitive with a bus on these routes

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I've actually looked into this further, Kitchener-Guelph are approx. 22 km away from each other. it takes 17 minutes to get from one to the other. and you need a loop in the middle - there's conveniently located GO owned grain elevator tracks. If you construct a switch from the mainline to the...

    General railway discussions

Victorian residents when An old twig is cut down, "ahh save the trees" Victorian residents when a profitable rail proposal is mentioned "crickets" Maybe Victoria doesn't deserve its reputation as an "eco friendly place" when even London has a better rapid transit goal

    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

In an alternate reality where Metrolinx buys the Guelph sub, Id like to see 30 min trains stopping at Fanshawe and the Airport

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

ion was meant to be launched with 7.5 minutes , but bbd welding errors meant many trains had to be fixed. Meaning not enough trains for 7.5

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

@ARG1 brings up an interesting point. Although Conestoga to Fairview is generally not as competive with Lrt (the lrt takes 44 mins and the 7 takes 47 minutes so the lrt is slightly faster), The reason why this is not that big of an issue that the vast majority of trips are not from the ends of...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

As much as I love the ion, I think that such a tram built new in Toronto would not be worth. Toronto is a bus to subway transfer city, and if this LRT is not time competitive, people will take a another parallel bus to connect to the subway. Ion has some of the max priority for surface lrts in...

    VIA Rail

The model he uses is works for metro areas with little commuting population - ex london- Hamilton. Not related but :There would a very high commuting ridership from Kitchener - guelph

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

OK I found the thing I was mentioning from the Initial Business case for the Kitchener Line: "Travel between Kitchener / Waterloo and Guelph is the second largest market on the corridor. An estimated 32,000 trips are made each day between these cities." "The third largest market is the long...

    VIA Rail

    Applying gravity model: for Kitchener - Toronto CMAs (575,000)*(6,202,000)/(93.78)^2 = 405 489 067.697 for Montreal - Toronto CMA's (4,300,000)*(6,202,000)/(508.87 )^2 = 102 987 975.53 Montreal-Toronto has1/4 the theoretical demand of Kitchener -Toronto. But curiously when ever someone...
