    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Do you live downtown? Rush hour is nearly perpetual here.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

We could. A car is not allowed to proceed into an intersection before it can clear the intersection. I know that this rule isn't followed much in Toronto, especially at intersections along Spadina, like King, Adelaide and Front, which often backs up the cross street at every light cycle.

TTC: Automatic Train Control and Subway Platform Screen Doors

Any rush hour commuters noticing an improvement on line 1 since ATC was activated?

RapidTO: Citywide Streetcar Priority (City of Toronto, TTC)

As an average pedestrian who often walks faster than the 510, I fully agree. I live near it but don't bother taking it anymore. It's also a short stretch by car standards (Bloor to QQ) so completely reasonable to ban all left turns along its length. I am always amazed how easy it is to drive in...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Always happy to have another GO station, but it's unfortunate that it's in yet another desolate parking lot.

    VIA Rail

Good idea! Will do and let the forum know if they respond with a concrete date/routes :)

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

That kind of insult is uncalled for dude, even though I know it can seem condescending and pedantic when forumers try to debate even the most straightforward posts. You could post "the sky is blue" and someone would probably respond with "actually it's shades of indigo" or some other annoying...

    VIA Rail

I just got the marketing email from VIA this morning, but it didn't specify a date for the new trainsets. Does anyone happen to know the start date and/or train numbers? I am hoping to surprise my partner with business class tickets TOR-MTL aboard the new whip!

    Toronto Bloor-Yonge Station Capacity Enhancement | ?m | ?s | TTC | AECOM

Another way to look at this would be whether it would be better to expand RT in a city that lacks it so profoundly. We're talking about the most populous downtown core in the country with next to no RT and an unusable commuter rail system for nearly everyone in the city. It's sad that BY will...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

But that doesn't make it any better, does it?

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

This is the worst part of all. And waiting at a red light to slowly cross an intersection, only to stop again. Is there a way we can actually get this addressed?

TTC: Automatic Train Control and Subway Platform Screen Doors

Those were brought in under Andy Byford, iirc. Leary is anti-transit as far as I can tell.

    King-Queen-Roncy Intersection/ROW

It's absurd how often this happens. All streetcar lines running concurrently should be the rule, not the exception. Sydney managed to reduce a rail closure on one of their many "S-Bahn" rail lines (to convert it to a metro) down from 18 months to 5 weeks after public outcry. Meanwhile we're...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Haha well it's on-topic and respectful, so I don't see why a mod would remove it. To me it really depends on whether the crosstown is truly delayed for a year or longer, but if so I'd partially open it alongside existing bus service.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

You make a good point that Torontonians are used to a high number of transfers for trips, compared to a city like Sydney where transfers are uncommon for the typical commuter. A partial line opening would not need to mean a decrease in existing bus services. I usually prefer a one-seat ride, but...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

And we can choose to discuss it as often as we like. I believe the last time Crosslinx said that was before the latest announced delay, which has no firm estimate.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

If London can do it, Toronto can too. Here's hoping ML/TTC will be open to trying something different.

FastLane: Gil Penalosa’s transit platform for Toronto

Fully agree, BRT can be workable for corridors that have nothing concrete planned, but why delay planned LRT with a mediocre alternative?

TTC: Automatic Train Control and Subway Platform Screen Doors

According to that reddit thread where this was first announced, yes.

    Montréal Transit Developments

I never wrote "full speed" so I'm not sure what the quotation marks are for, nor did I mention anything about track geometry, but nevertheless, the metro has a higher average speed than the subway. ATC may indeed help with that.
