    TTC Cartography, Signage, and Wayfinding

I like it too, much clearer and better looking. I know it doesn't really matter much, but I always wished that streetcar lines were a different colour than bus lines.

    Toronto Leslie Barns | ?m | ?s | TTC | SAI

I really like those bay doors at Leslie Barns (barn doors?). Unintended homage to the CLRVs?

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

It would be a good bypass for Queen's Quay, considering how busy it's getting. I'll be looking for it when the detailed plans for the Gardiner East replacement come out in however-many years.

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

The article is not greatly written, and the author clearly doesn't understand that in the other places he mentions, people do not ride on sidewalks, but on separated infrastructure that is more connected to the sidewalk than the road. However, I do understand his point, and somewhat agree with...

    Forum Shutdown For Upgrades

Also, you used to be able to double-click on the forum icon to mark all threads as read. I used this a lot. Is there any other way to mark all threads as read?

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Very cool, we should put Frankfurt's logo on one of our streetcars too...

Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

I thought the cost of the Outlook order was $1.2 billion, which is the number normally seen in the media (such as http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2012/11/15/ttc_unveils_torontos_new_streetcars.html), which therefore makes them more expensive. I could be wrong, so any better sources would...

Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

Well the R&D for the Outlooks has to be added to the price, whereas the Freedoms are "off-the-shelf". Yes, the Freedoms are customized to an extent for each order, but it's generally cosmetic. My understanding is that the Outlooks are much more powerful than the Freedoms, and have 3 powered...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Looking at the renderings, it still bugs me that they'll grade separate the line over black creek, but won't do the same at Leslie, where it's potentially easier. Just a random quick rant, which I know has been debated before...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

This is a bit random, but anyone ever notice the when the 509 streetcars (CLRVs) are heading towards the Dan Leckie Way stop, that the stop announcement sign has fun with the stop name? Normally, the streetcar announces the upcoming stop, and the stop name comes up on the LED sign behind the...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Looking good. But I think those Presto readers need to move forward about a metre, and rotated 90 degrees towards each other. They seem to be in an awkward spot if you're trying to tap, then pull the door towards you, then swing around and through (or the opposite, if tapping out). Wouldn't...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Thanks for the information! I didn't know the bus drivers in Ottawa got all that info on their screen, it's interesting.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I find Presto lags more than other similar systems, in that it takes a second or two for the reader to read the card. I don't think it's a major issue though. A question to anyone that might know. The Presto readers in buses/streetcars, are they stand-alone units? That is, are they just mounted...

TTC: Bloor Danforth Line 2 West Extension(s)

My opinion is that for the most part, our subways are at their maximum length (except for the STC extension, and obviously Sheppard), and people in adjacent municipalities should not be encouraged to commute on the system more than they already do. Toronto is densifying, and the subway system...

    TTC: Redesigning TTC Signage

Not bad, however most tram pictograms in the world I find include the pantograph on top, to distinguish it a bit more from a bus or subway. I was hoping the new pictogram would have it as well. It's a small detail, but if anything, makes it a bit more universal.

Toronto Union Subway Station: Second Platform and Concourse Improvements | ?m | ?s | TTC | IBI Group

The glass art should be better at hiding the dirt/brake dust for a while (as opposed to the transparent glass). Eventually it will have to be cleaned, in which case I'm proposing a subway car with a sprinkler and one long squeegee on the side.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

As I remember on those newer trams in Amsterdam (the ones with the conductor booth on board), some of the doors were only for boarding, and some just for exiting (I think it was half/half). You could buy tickets from the conductor. If it was less busy, there was no conductor, and you would buy...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Those are the presto readers, there are six of them on board. The fare validators are a box with a slot that you stick a child or student/senior ticket into to get time stamped. There are two on board, one beside each SRVM. Once we move fully to Presto, the validators will be removed.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

They're already installed on the old streetcars. Coincidently, they also drive the streetcar, and sometimes take Timmies breaks :)
