    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

407E made logical sense as it was simply a extension of a highway that just seemingly ended at some random local road. To maximize it's usefulness it needed a connection to the 401 on the east end of Greater Toronto. May as well extend it all the way to a major road (35/115) while you're at it...

Then you may as well extend it to the 410 then. That would essentially 'complete' both the 410 and 427 since they end at a major highway.

https://financialpost.com/opinion/opinion-toronto-needs-highway-413 Even a short stretch of this highway, linking the 427 to the 400, would help alleviate congestion elsewhere such as the over-capacity 400/401 interchange.

QEW? What are they doing here? Finally widening for HOVs between 403 and 427?

So long as this new stadium is 100% privately funded, it can cost however much they want it to. Not a dime of public money should be spent or else we may have another Skydome cost overrun fiasco on our hands.

Do these translucent roofs let in enough light to let real grass grow? The brand new Sofi / 2028 Olympic Stadium in the Los Angeles area has this tech too. It does not have a retractable field or dome. But it does not have real grass- it uses MatrixTurf so maybe not good enough for baseball...

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

While the HOV lane is the leftmost lane, it is not a passing lane. It may not move the fastest but it could move more consistently and get backed up less often so your travel time may be faster on it.

lol Yes it is excessive, but this is how you get real grass in a dome. The other ways of doing it is to create a retractable dome that doesn't cast so much shadows on the grass so it has sufficient sunlight to grow. Or have a full dome but maybe insert a large artificial lighting structure...

The new Raiders stadium in Vegas has grass field even though it is an indoor stadium. The field is on a huge track and is moved outside so it can grow and get sunlight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegiant_Stadium Something like this could be done. Vegas is too hot for an outdoor stadium...

You can't really generate tolls from that though- you need a full controlled-access freeway to do that. I say this either needs to be built properly or not at all. No sense half-assing it. I for one would love to see a bypass of Toronto to get to the 400 without paying 407 prices.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Hi! I have an answer why 401/Leslie is being reconstructed. All of the 401 bridges over the Don River are to be rebuilt in the coming years. To do this, a brand new bridge will be built, then traffic shifted to it. Then one of the existing bridges will be closed and rebuilt, then the next...

The 427 extension is to open all at once. Perhaps it could open by the end of the year. I'd assume it will be extended a little further if the GTA West highway is built.

That's kind of weird. I use this interchange in London often and to use the ramp to the Highbury Ave freeway section in London, you need to yield to the bike lane https://www.google.ca/maps/@42.9628582,-81.1892796,105m/data=!3m1!1e3 Odd how it isn't structured the same on provincial...

Drone footage of the 427 extension Fun fact- this is the very first new highway build in Ontario to feature HOV lanes. All other HOVs were retrofitted to existing highways.

    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

Other bus routes connect here as well. Frequencies for other routes can be 30-60 mins so if you just miss your bus, you could be stuck here for a while.

For 2 million dollars I'd expect Lay-Z Boy chairs in my climate-controlled bus shelter with huge 4K TVs showing premium content to pass the time along with private washrooms. Rapid transit is new to London. Anything more than a large bus shelter would be considered a huge waste of money.

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

I wouldn't expect much other than some prep work to start this year. Once the snow flies things will be at pretty much a standstill until next spring. Same thing with this recently announced 401 widening contract in Tilbury. Probably just some very preliminary work will start before the first...

lol If the Libs didn't let Toronto toll the Gardiner & DVP, no way the PCs will Even if the PCs lose the next election I'd assume the EA would be pretty much done and further construction / prep work would be underway. It would be kind of dumb to kill the project by this point if all this...

What a miss. This stretch of the 401 was recently rebuilt from the roadbed up and had a cable barrier installed in most sections. Done under the Lib government Now the PCs want to fill in the median to put in another lane and concrete median. I believe the drainage on the rebuilt roadway was...
