    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

Seriously? You would think they would give us more service first before cramming even more people into our already packed Stouffville trains. Existing riders are going to hate this.

    Markville Renovations and Retail Thread

It looks to me like they will eventually redo that area so that Toys R Us will have a larger entrance. I can't imagine it will be left as is.

    Markville Renovations and Retail Thread

Sears is set to vacate Markville by the end of February, so I'd expect to hear some news from CF soon about future plans. I know Markham is doing a new secondary plan for the "Markville Area," so things might be delayed somewhat until that is complete. CF is certainly pulling out all the stops...

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

Ridership seems to be recovering a bit, but it's still pretty uneven and down 1.3% YTD as of the end of November: http://www.york.ca/wps/wcm/connect/yorkpublic/1715b081-fe7c-46b6-8262-88a2e975891f/jan+8+ridership.pdf?MOD=AJPERES

    Toronto 160 Front West | 239.87m | 46s | Cadillac Fairview | AS + GG

I wonder if this will replace that stubby office building north of 160 Front on Simcoe (145 Wellington Street West)? Does CF own this? Maybe CF is planning ahead for a two-tower complex between Front and Wellington?

    Downtown Markham

Love the new render! I wonder if the tallish building to the the east of the Signature buildings will be the next phase?

    Planned Sprawl in the GTA

The beginnings of Markham's plan to use up a huge chunk of its white belt before 2031ish (12,000 units of housing for a projected 38,000 new residents and 19,000 new jobs). I'm not sure I'm a big fan of extending the bypass road -- it will only lead to more sprawl post-2031 as it cuts through...

    York Downs (Warden and 16th)

It was a bit low - - current bid at $412 million. http://www.yorkregion.com/news-story/5162001-developers-offer-412m-for-york-downs-golf-club/#.VH4o7zOeDYg.facebook

    Toronto The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

A curved, Bow-like structure would be delightful.

    Toronto BMO Field Renovations | ?m | ?s | MLSE | Gensler

Maybe Jays fans can kickstart the money so that the Argos get the boot and we can grow grass in the dome.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Very precise, thanks. Certainly no small task if combined with a widening of the corridor.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

My Stouffville train had to stop at three or four malfunctioning level crossings (all south of Unionville) on the way home today. I wonder how many billions will be needed just to build separations? It's hard to imagine modern, electric rail on this line in under a decade.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

The West platform has opened at Markham GO and everyone loves it. Boarding from both sides seems to be speeding things up as well. It will be a shame if we ever get a second track and this all has to be destroyed though.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Transit Plans

Markham politicians have been promoting something similar to Smart Track far before Tory. The eastern section is pretty much Jim Jones' terribly named"I-METRO-E" from 2012: http://www2.markham.ca/markham/ccbs/indexfile/Agendas/2012/Development%20Services/pl120501/I-METRO%20April%2012,2012.pdf...

Oddfellows Hall 450 Yonge @ Carlton (?, 5s addition, ERA)

...and rename it the Oddbedfellows Building. Seriously though, the heritage hounds need to be released on this.

    Toronto Aquavista at Bayside | 46.94m | 13s | Tridel | Arquitectonica

It kind of looks like two of the Infinity Towers stuck together. I'm glad to see this area develop and all, but this whole Bayside project just seems very clunky and inelegant. I would happily be proven wrong by the finished product though.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Transit Plans

If the western section does end up being that easy, it gives me hope for the Stouffville/LSE section.

    York Downs (Warden and 16th)

I think golf courses are the next "victims" of the greenbelt -- the land is just too valuable. In ten years, Angus Glen may be the only major course left in Markham, since many of the others are already owned by developers...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Transit Plans

Interesting, thanks. If Tory/Toronto wants to use the corridor for local transit, maybe new stations can be phased in as the track is widened moving east and then north. I agree that widening that section of Lakeshore E is probably also necessary.
