    Toronto 245 Queen Street East | 94.3m | 25s | ONE Properties | Graziani + Corazza

Really hoping the OMB squashes this one now. Not a fan of the shopping mall feel or the lack of regard for heritage. As @maestro said, let's get shovels in the ground for the Relief Line before we start building 40+ storey towers on Queen East.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT: Leaside Station | ?m | 1s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Touché. However, we lack the amount of coverage that Manhattan has (making street name stops less necessary), and we also lack a numbered street grid, which further detracts from the usefulness of street names as navigation tools. As for suburban areas only known by intersection; that's the...

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

Some low fencing might be a nice cheaper compromise, like what they use in Tokyo to prevent patrons from falling on the tracks during the rush hour crush.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT: Leaside Station | ?m | 1s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Can you name a city that duplicates station names on its rail transit lines? I can't. I think we need to get over our provincial insistence on using street names to name stations. Let's engage in some place-making and name stations after the communities/neighbourhoods that they serve, like...

    Toronto 280 Jarvis Street | 74.7m | 22s | Antorisa Investments | Giannone Petricone

The heritage structures are well positioned for inclusion into a podium (or for building around them). Hopefully they can figure out a respectful way to maintain them.

Would be vastly improved by picking one colour of brick and sticking with it.

    Toronto The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

If you think this is taking a long time, the Mirvish-Gehry project is about to enter its 6th calendar year without so much as presale. Don't worry. This project is moving at light speed in real estate development terms.

    Toronto 50 Bloor Street West | 230.11m | 70s | Morguard Corporation | Pellow + Associates

I believe if they position the tallest tower at the southeast corner of the development, shadows could be avoided. This is probably what would happen anyway, as Yonge/Bloor is the designated height peak. No need to invoke the dreaded JKP just yet.

Oh man, get ready for a fight. This one is not going to sail through. (Good thing too... seems pretty mediocre)

Toronto King Portland Centre and Kingly Condos | 57.6m | 15s | Allied | Hariri Pontarini

This town has more than enough clean lines. We have great vernacular architecture, and (most) local firms seem to have forgotten that heritage. Props to HP for playing off of it in this design. Bring on that fussy brick!!!

    Toronto Aqualina at Bayside | 47.85m | 13s | Tridel | Arquitectonica

The white looks good, but I hope Tridel considers doing a red-steel-and-glass look for one of the future builds in Bayside/Bayfront/etc.

    Toronto Stanley Condominiums | 138.37m | 41s | Tribute | Core Architects

The reduced floorplate at ground level allows for more sidewalk space for people to enter/exit/stand around the building. The storey above is maximized for interior floor space.

    Toronto Nobu Residences Toronto | 156.66m | 45s | Madison Group | Teeple Architects

I'm going to repeat what's been said a million times, but there are height limits in our zoning for a reason. If they approved the "O" at 70 storeys, they would have had to allow inferior buildings at 70 storeys because that's how the OMB makes decisions. We'd end up with a crop of hideous 70...

    Toronto Nobu Residences Toronto | 156.66m | 45s | Madison Group | Teeple Architects

I'm amused at the outrage at the city because of the loss of the "O". Be angry at the developer. The Waterlink condos are much shorter, and yet somehow the they managed to budget in cantilevered bridge floors from one to the other. Madison is being cheap, or they paid too much money for the land.

    Toronto Tower at Pier 27 | 114.9m | 35s | Cityzen | a—A

FWIW, I would never buy a unit with a balcony. Not worth the money; not for the extra "floor space", nor the extra energy cost of the heat that gets radiated from it. I wish there were more balcony-free options in this city. I'd also look for a building that has minimal-to-no amenities and low...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Speaking of context, this is the clincher. The Spanish government acknowledged the fact that the economic future of developed countries is dependent on services and knowledge that can only generate from large urban agglomerations, and they invested accordingly. Spain is further along in a...

    Toronto 100 Queens Quay at Sugar Wharf | 117.34m | 25s | Menkes | B+H

Agreed. This, partnered with the skybridges, gives it a very 1960's throw-the-baby-out-with-the-bath-water, "we're going to make this so urban by design that we are going to kill any accidental urbanity" sort of vibe.
