GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

For me, having the afternoon stop at Weston means that I can connect to the airport. I'm disapointed that weekend service for the Kitchener line has yet to become a reality. I'm not looking for all day service; just one or two trains from Kitchener in the morning and back.

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I didn't try. My first stop was the Foundry Ave. and that view was great. I didn't realize how big the drop is between the landscaped park and the rail line. Looking at the Google Review images - it doesn't look like it.

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I took the photo from the red circle. It’s park and pathway. The developer to the south is doing a massive site clean up and dig down. There’s an empty pit with water but no heavy equipment so work must have stopped.

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

This isn't a very exciting photo but in my search for a safe & legal spot to see the Davenport Diamond, I finally found it at the Powerhouse Lands. Consider this a before pic. Before all the tree clearing and the viaduct is built. Photo is pointing South(Westish)

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Is there a link to the slides & maps? I can't find it on the Metrolinx website.

Lots of work happening on the Kitchener Line in Guelph this weekend. Pictures taken along the "street running" part of Kent Street and the Yorkshire crossing.

This is really good news. My biggest pet peeve was this when taking the train 2 weeks after opening.

I hope weekend service on Stouffville is annouced concurrently with Kitchener weekend service. Thank way they can maintain the same interlined midday service that currently exists.

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

Sounds more like fear mongering from Charlie Angus to rally NDP support for the election. If anything, he should not be in front of the train (to use it as a prop) just like campaigning candidates can't use the TTC or GO. Tim Hudak got into trouble for this in 2014. That said, Elizabth May...

    Ottawa Transit Developments

Hurdman is also on top of an old landfill making development a very difficult issue. I know a planner who worked on this and the loooooong term plan is to convert the SW Transitway to LRT (similar to the Confederation Line) with Hudrman become an interchange station and a line running to Vanier...

^It's going to be so exciting when that 4th track on the Kitchener line goes live.

I believe last year there was a weekend train for the Santa Claus parade bu it only went as far as Georgetown.

This grade separation: Torbram Road construction on the Metrolinx portion is behind the CN grade separation to the north.

Speaking of, are there any plans to eliminate the Scarboro St Crossing ? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's the only at grade crossing between Bramelea and Union left.

A little good news for the Kitchener Line. It's great to see concrete action is being take for expansion. Looks like Metrolinx is studying to see if the bridge over the river Speed will support a second track - the pylons are currently wide enough to support two tracks...

    VIA Rail

Ottawa station should have an underground walk way to the Railway yards shopping centre to the south. The problem is that the owner, the feds, have no incentive to provide for a better train/ retail experience. The crappy cafe should be replaced by a Starbucks or similar vendor that actually...

    VIA Rail

Australia feels (especially the rail system) like bizzaro Canada. Drive on other sides of the road, opposite seasons, warnings about kangaroos crossing the road, but similar commonwealth government systems and urban/suburban/rural split. I found Australia to feel half way between Europe and car...

    VIA Rail

NSW Tranlink in Australia is a good model to follow if a intra provincal transit system is created. They cover the entire state with a bus train feeder system. Similar to what Ontario Northland does but with emphasis on rail. I like to think that there's a alternate reality in which Ontario...
