Just as Train 84 left Guelph this morning, construction crews started work on weather proofing the section for the new 2nd track on the Wyndham Street underpass.

With many staff working remotely, now is a great time to get the detailed design work done and shovel ready for the post CVOID rebound.

Cycling through Streetview, looks like all maintenance stopped once the tunnel closed. Nature just took over. I walked by last year and the entrance was filled with garbage.

I'm out of town this week and just heard about this now. The entrance on the south side is a popular homeless sleeping area. The door looks like it hasn't been used in years. If you look on a map, the tunnel is located just east of the parking lot used by the chamber of commerce.

Hopefully this phase will be shovel ready in time for post pandemic construction funding.

With the new fleet being bi directional, I wonder if VIA will make a firm decision which direction the locomotives face- east or west. they should face east with the cab cars facing west to align with GO Transit’s fleet policy.

It’s great to see this taking shape. But it’s the construction of the second platform that I want to see break ground. A tunnel that extends from Neeve Street under the middle of the platforms will be helpful once traffic really increases.

I wonder if VIA will want to use this station. I hope not. VIA should stop serving Malton once the new platform at Weston opens.

Saw that the 2nd tracks (non platform) next to Guelph Central have been dug up and the earth striped. Looks like Metrolinx is getting ready to relay the tracks in advance of the 2nd platform.

Any idea what the four bridges are? I have seen them soil testing along the bridge over the Speed River. So I assume a new span will be built there sooner than later.
