Thanks for the pics! I think this will be the last of the "short and chubby" buildings that go up in Downtown Markham now that height restrictions are being lifted due to Buttonville closing.

The monthly numbers are up, but year-to-date is down for Purple. I'm hoping that at the end of the year, year-over-year numbers will be up, if only slightly. VIVA and YRT in general seem to be stalling on ridership. In a few years, the Highway 7 subway station and the York Campus in Markham...

Remington did shrink the amount of office space in DM, but they are also moving some of it towards the GO Station to the east in advance of better train service. Before: After (there is also more office space planned to the east of what's shown here):

Agree 100%. If it's not connecting to subway, LRT or a major trip generator, I really don't see the need to add a stop.

It would be nice to see something relatively tall and "iconic" as this could create an interesting view terminus for York Street.

This might just be my new favourite project. What's not to love here? A great design that blends in well with its surroundings.

The York Condos facebook page mentions that Downtown Markham is getting a Ruth's Chris steakhouse! Also a Goodlife, Golf Town and Canada Goose, among others. It's nice to see the retail starting to come alive here.

Yeah, I was on the 07:16. I think the train before that (the one that broke down) was closer to three hours late. I took the subway from Kennedy and door to door it took me almost four hours to get to work! I could have flown to Mexico in that time! :-) That second track can't come soon enough!

Good news! I just hope it isn't years before the Stouffville all-day service is extended north of Unionville, realizing that the track work is underway but won't be finished overnight.

Sorry, I should have quoted this specifically: The Stouffville line already connects to Line 2 at Kennedy and when they started this pilot they added a few extra minutes to the total trip. I really think the focus should be on making trips faster given that most riders are heading to Steeles...
