    Toronto Pearson International Airport

I had to do that on flight to Quebec City a few weeks ago. I think it's Gate D30

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

I actually think it could backfire. I bet the NIMBYs hate the idea of an airport

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Elected officials in Pickering and Durham are pushing for it. They want it to be a Federal election issue

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

Ya. That's the site. But in the commercial they make no mention of the Pickering government. They tell people to go to economicevidence.ca which redirects you to the link above.

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

Crap no. That was supposed to say Oshawa. Stupid autocorrect

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

Proponents of this airport are running radio commercials. I heard one this morning on 94.6 The Rock (Oshawa based station) They have a website but I didn't catch the name. It's not the same one Mark is pushing

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

I'm willing to bet that if a referendum were held in Durham Region people would resoundingly vote against an airport.

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

LOL. Losing what argument? I'm barely involved in this debate and am more interested in lurking the thread. By my own tally Mark still has not made given us compelling reason why we need this airport.

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

I apologize if that's not true. I had read it somewhere, but forget where.

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

He's being paid to post on forums and support it. It makes me feel a bit like a sucker. For all the time I spend on line would be nice to get paid for it. LOL

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

If Pickering ever did get built I would expect it to have similar service as Hamilton or KW. Weekend flights to Cancun or Punta Cana from your Sunwings and Transat type airlines. And maybe a few daily flights to Canada's big cities (similar to how AC does a few daily flights to Montreal from...

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

Most of us here are transit nerds or interested in urban design. And for the most part we are skeptical about the viability of this airport. I bet the NIMBY's will be way more of a challenge for the proponents of this airport then anything written here.

Drove by this site today and they have begun demo on the old Kumon head office.

This only really good for Smart Centres and Walmart. It's not good planning.

If VMC is a success there will be pressure to build up in this area as well in the near future. The Wal-Mart would have made more sense near the Costco

    Vaughan ArtWalk District Phase 1 | 131m | 38s | SmartCentres | Hariri Pontarini

Well it could have been a 10 story office tower with walmart at the bottom. That would be considered employment use

Agreed. Even the land they are moving to should have been a new high rise. Who knows maybe they won't get that special Ministerial approval they need.

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

The 407 isn't really a selling point. It's so expensive most people avoid it now

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

People will only drive 30km to an airport? That's news to me. Seems like a totally arbitrary number to pick.

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

I think East of Yonge makes more sense. Even then if Pickering ever did open it won't be close to Pearson at first in terms of available routes
