Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

I think it's been proposed by Multiple relief line plans from decades prior. It also seemed to be the most logical route, with people mentioning Dufferin as a compelling if unlikely alternative (myself included). Metrolinx considering this routing to Roncesvalles I think is high considering...

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

Excellent points. This will likely result in another East-West rail line south of Bloor, perhaps along King transitioning to elevated along Lakeshore east of the Don to serve redevelopment of Portlands and other post-industrial lands.

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

Yes, with two station entrances at each intersection.

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

Dufferin has tons of opportunity for densification with OL , especially if the street is gently densified south of Eglinton (4-6 story midrise).

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

I'm ready for this to really blow up in their face and hurt the PC's electability.

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

Of course these are low quality back of a napkin renderings, but I would speculate the most likely route of OL would continue along Lakeshore/Gardiner, then north along 427. Just speculation though.

Promising renderings, however they still haven't compromised much on the downtown section being elevated.

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

To me that suggests that the TTC isn't willing to take the hit in revenue without some form of compensation...which IO and TTC likely disagree on is fair.

Some opinions on MX handling of Don Valley layover facility.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I could eventually see the case where morning rush hour trains operate express, skipping some stations.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Planning doesn't require messiness, but adequately consulting citizens is critical to buy in from the public (I am not construing pandering to NIMBY's as consulting). There must be good faith attempts to address concerns, but Metrolinx/the Ontario government has shown to be using consultation as...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

And not everyone does a grocery "haul". With affordable click and collect or delivery, the ways we're living that operate around a car are changing.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The overuse of MZO's is going to get them in trouble with the electorate. The PC's seem to misunderstand that planning in a democratic environment is messy and sometimes slow, and rushing that process for mere expediency will aggrevate the "NIMBY" tension.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I strongly advocate for elevated, but the only way I see this as viable is if there is light Metro rolling stock to TTC gauge ordered to make building elevated less expensive...but I think we all know it'll be tunneled.

You're right, the way REM was put forward is really the model we should be looking to emulate ;)

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

This isn't just a small station, this will be a multi-platform Go station interchanging with OL and TTC streetcars. I imagine it will also have a sizable bus bay and possibly amenities such as washrooms and shops. The intention is for this to be a relief to Union station as it will become...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

🙄 I think the drama of having to walk a few minutes to interchange stations is overblown. Of course quick and convenient interchanges are ideal, but Union station is a great example how a 10-15 min walk isn't a deterrent to taking transit.

    Montréal Transit Developments

Regardless of whether it is a public or private corporation, the project is offloading essentially all risk to the CDPQ. The end result becomes very much like how the Canada Line was built, with Translink paying the consortium a fee. I would have far less concerns with the project if it was...

    Montréal Transit Developments

I definitely agree that REM is transformative and has many great elements, but that transit planning has essentially been farmed out I think will have long-term consequences (brain drain with the already sad state of ARTM, the financial liability of paying a private consortium since shareholders...
