2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

And the right bitches and moans about activist judges until the "activist judges" make a decision they like

It will change by adding an influx of new residents. More eyes on the street, more customers for new businesses, etc. Maybe some rooming houses will go, but the services will stay. As they should. They have to go somewhere, and east downtown is where the clients are.

Toronto Municipal Election 2018: Mayor’s Race

And unfortunately for him, a lot of those people are receptive to Jen Keesmaat's progressive messaging. The Scarborough numbers do not surprise me. Tory radiates "elite" more than Keesmaat does. I think she has a shot at this thing.

My understanding is that they're being kept as a heritage element.

If the city was able to implement the Bloor bike lanes with the current cast on city council, I'm sure she could get the future council to agree to a few new lanes. City council is always sycophantic towards a new mayor (as we saw with Ford and Tory) while they are jockeying for committee...

If Sidewalk Labs is any indication, I don't think there is much appetite for that amongst the political classes.

Depending who is mayor come October... it may happen sooner than you think.

The original plan was a ridiculous overbuild of the site. There was no way it was ever going to get approved. So yeah, you can blame the developer.

    East Bayfront: Parkside/Bayside/Dockside neighbourhoods Overview

Maybe it's generational.. my friends and I (millennials), almost all of whom live in condos, exclusively complain about architecture and design. We recognize that more supply is necessary for more affordability. And I'm the only one who is working in/interested in urban development. Judging by...

Toronto Municipal Election 2018: Mayor’s Race

That's false. She implemented the Avenues zoning plan, which is transforming streets primarily in the suburbs. She's the reason that Scarborough is getting two LRT lines ON TOP of the subway extension.

    Jennifer Keesmaat's Toronto

My suspicion is that she will support the existing subway + LRT plan. Not worth losing votes in Scarborough. She'll call the plan a great compromise and good for placemaking in Scarborough Centre, which was her official line while she was chief planner.

I wish the redesign wasn't so fin-like.... it's as if someone cut the Ryugong Hotel into thirds, and transported one to Toronto o_O

    Jennifer Keesmaat's Toronto

First of all, only 3-to-1 decided voters prefer Tory. Quite a few people don't know who Keesmaat is yet. Quite a few haven't decided yet. She has nowhere to go but up. Tory has nowhere to go but down. Second of all, it seems like you're equating the candidacy of an accomplished and well-spoken...

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

I'm fairly certain that all it would take is a good lawyer and an injunction to prevent any provincial legislation from changing the October 2018 municipal election process. 2022 is another story. Will anyone take initiative?

Shame they're not turning that No Frills parking lot on Front Street into a park. It's going to look especially silly with all the surrounding lots developed.

I think he runs in University-Rosedale now. At least he did for the provincial election. Maybe he doesn't live in the new Ward 19?

    Toronto Sidewalk Toronto at Quayside | ?m | ?s | Sidewalk | Snøhetta

This is what the City is angry about. The Sidewalk deal is for 12 (?) acres, and they hope to extend these services to all 800 acres in the Portlands in the future. It seems like somebody in their media department who doesn't know much about the project took that to mean an 800 acre project, and...
