GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Interesting concept of the semi-express 1613, bypassing Bloor and Weston, saving 6 minutes. I recommend they change all current all-stop to Kitchener trains to this format. Coincidentally, the 605 from Kitchener last Thursday ended up doing this after the lengthy delay, announcing first it was...

Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

They can do in place testing, maintenance training, OMSF clearance testing, emergency drills, and whatever else ION was able to do in the long wait between the first and second vehicles being delivered. Trains don't need to be mobile to be useful.

What about the NDP MPPs who reached out as well? Typically partisan.

The major University for Sarnia is Western. My graduating class went there or stayed local and went to Lambton College. I went to Windsor two times in the 21 years I lived near Sarnia. Maybe not typical, but not something that is done in any regularity.

    VIA Rail

Sarnia has been effectively cut off by transit from the rest of the province over the years. The 2nd trip that was cut was fairly well used, despite it only being a 2 car train. I took the 7pm back to kw a number of times in my student years and first few working years before I got a car...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The 5:02 train I was on the other day continued west from the Kitchener station, suggesting that Park street can hold at least one 12 car train.

    6. 2 at Park Street and 4 at Shirley Street.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

I don't think Grand River Go would be used to nearly the same extent as the other three, along with no reasonable location for station and parking in that area. Breslau is the better choice for that end of town, with the space for a park and ride. No need for (much) parking at Westmount, as...

I walked through those doors mid-November.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The NDP MPP from Kitchener seems to be reiterating that this is a 50% decrease in express service to Kitchener and overall a bad move. Mind you, only 1 through trip was express beforehand, so one trip going 15 minutes longer (on top of signal issues and train traffic delays) is somewhat...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Car traffic is once again using the temporary road to the west of the crossing at Torbram.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Pedestrian tunnel seems to be mostly in place at Bramalea in the north parking lot (still surrounded by a large hole). Temporary parking east of Bramalea road is open. Looks like any existing infra on the south platform has been removed as the beginnings of new in its place.

The 25 from KW only ends at Square One without any connections to the train line, so the 21 would still be required, unless some agreement is made to take the 25 straight to Union.

Did they split the schedule from the Hamilton GO / Aldershot schedule? There's a number of trips missing in there.

The worst two sections for speed are west of Guelph station (hopefully better after this years work) and west of Georgetown station (who knows why it goes so slow.) Acton is fast in comparison.

Uh... Am I reading correctly that there is no longer an express train on the Kitchener line in the afternoon?

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

There's a spur from Guelph that heads south generally along 124 to Cambridge.

As one from Kitchener who goes downtown fairly regularly, I wouldn't be surprised if people still drive to Burlington rather than take the train from Niagara. 2+ hours on a GO train is not very fun. I generally drive to Aldershot instead of going direct from Kitchener.
