Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Without paving over homes or through sensitive landscapes, it'd be pretty hard to make the road grid any better than it is.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

There's a large route rationalization happening in conjunction with the LRT launch. Many routes will be realigned: https://www.grt.ca/en/about-grt/bus-service-changes-ion.aspx

There also is the pesky fact of a few places east of the Barrie turnoff where signal supports are sitting in the middle of the already laid north track.

^ Fourth Line in Rockwood would also be a good candidate. It's a bit of a blind corner from the south and also lessens the chance of a train running into a combine decked out in festive decorations during the parade of lights.

It would be a bit awkward in the current scenario if you're transferring from a bus to the GO train when the nearest bus stop is a few blocks from the Central Station stop. On occasion, I take the EB 204 to the 6:05. Given the 2 block run from the bus to the ION stop and another 2 block run to...

"GO Transit riders with a valid Presto card can have a Connect-to-GO flag set on their EasyGO fare card. When you tap to board the bus, the full fare will be deducted from your balance. When you tap on a device at the Central Station ION stop, your card will be reimbursed. To have the...

Depends on the car you were in. West car, yes. East car, until the engine is past the switch. I usually sit on car 3/4 from the west. One day, I sat in the east most car and thought that we were going much faster than usual, but realized I was just closer to the engine, so it only seemed faster.

That makes sense. The speed drops to yard speed right around the switch to the mainline. Why would GO install the new tracks direct into the yard without signalling? Seems like an oversight that is now causing a few minutes of delay on what is a very long trip to begin with.

Funny, a few weeks ago I took a look outside in Rockwood and realized we were moving at a pretty good clip, ~110 km/h and had been going that speed since just west of Acton and didn't slow down until we were pulling into the east end of Guelph. The slow order over the Eramosa River in Rockwood...

I almost missed getting out of the first car at Bloor one morning because there were so many people standing around the doors waiting to get out at Union. Got out just as the doors chimed.

Kitchener can be car 2/3 as well, pending on if you want to go into the station. Car 1 will drop you at the fastest, although not official, path to the remote parking lot up Victoria or bus stops (not safe in the Winter). Acton it's cars 2/3 Georgetown can be cab car for north parking lot or...

As a tall person, I find the quad seating very awkward and uncomfortable. But on the other hand, I get nauseous when traveling backwards, so having the option to sit on the direction of travel is a good thing, because the trains don't turn around.

Picture over in Construction thread, but there was a concrete pour on Platform 4 at Bramalea today on the west end near around the stairs. Looks to be a bit more coming, likely long enough for 2 cars.
