From the Home Depot on Laird. Making a nice impact on the skyline.

    Toronto Hospital For Sick Children: Patient Support Centre | 99.06m | 22s | Sick Kids | B+H

We looked at selling our ridiculously over-appreciated townhouse in Leaside and moving to a smaller town and live mortgage-free, but Sick Kids is basically the reason my two children are still alive (donation to expansion coming from us soon), and we'd never want to be more than a reasonable...

Been a UT member for 10 years and I've never seen an excavation this intense. I guess this is what you get when the show is run by a $7 billion corporation.

Trust me, this sort of stuff is not the architects' fault. The developers have final say in design and materials used.

Hypothesis: no photos of central Toronto can be taken without at least 6 construction cranes being visible at the same time. Crazy growth.

    Toronto YC Condos -- Yonge at College | 198.42m | 62s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

The tower is perfectly tolerable, it's the podium that's a dog's breakfast.

    East York-Old East York

Has anyone tried that BBQ place just up on Pape from the north-west corner?

    East York-Old East York

Thanks for the rundown, Geo21. Folia is indeed still excellent. I noticed Florida for the first time ever driving down Pape Thursday; they must have changed the signage to be more visible. Going to have to try it some time. Also nice to see Phyllo doing well. BTW I drove down Pape around 6...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT: Eglinton Station | ?m | 1s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

What a mess. I wouldn't drive thru Y&E now under any circumstances. My standard move is to cut up Manor or Hillsdale to Redpath and back to Yonge or Mt. Pleasant at Erskine. What is the estimated total time that the intersection will be restricted to such a great degree? I know the subway won't...

    Toronto Wellesley on the Park | 194.15m | 60s | Lanterra | KPMB

Really digging that white-to-transparent fade-in glass. I don't recall seeing that style on any other building in the city. Should add a really unique element to this building.

I'm curious, why are the office towers so much shorter in SOCO? While residential towers are reaching into the 50-storey range, the office buildings are all around the 30-storey range. The difference in floor height doesn't account for the separation.

    Toronto 150 Laird | 28m | 8s | V!VA | RAW Design

No retail of any kind at the base, looks like. That's a shame. It's not a terrible development, Laird being a major avenue, but the total lack of interaction with the residents during the planning phase is diametrically opposed to how Shane Baghai handled his development down the street on...

    Toronto The Vic Towns | 16.52m | 5s | Solotex | Gabriel Bodor

Good god. Surely a bit of extra density could have been created here? Pop a mid-rise on the street frontage with some retail, perhaps? This development is going to be within walking distance to the LRT!

    Toronto 2450 Victoria Park | 94m | 29s | Collecdev | gh3

1247 units and not a single 3-bedroom? Where are the families of the future supposed to live in an era $1.5 million single detached housing?

How does the operator of the excavator with the very long neck see what he's scooping? Is there a camera system installed on the bucket or around it?

    Toronto 561 Sherbourne | 128.01m | 43s | Medallion | Arcadis

I like it, but in a "thank Jebus this isn't the total mess it could have easily turned into" kinda way. There's a cohesion in the lighter elements that plays off nicely against the dark glass. Definitely a notch above the Tridel/Camrost/Concord spandrel monstrosities.

2 St Clair East ( various interior and exterior renos, Slate, Gensler)

Did you just call Loblaws a small grocery store? I meant like Badali's on Bayview. You know, stuff on the street you can browse through while on the way home from work. The Euro-model of building public spaces.

Way better than what was there before but a long stretch of bank windows with ads still for a lively streetscape does not make. Same goes for the CIBC on the south-west corner. I'm starting to think banks should be relegated to second or higher floors at major intersections. How great would be a...
