Absolutely. Having just a convenience store with a big parking pad in front so close to a subway station is a complete waste of space. I really hope something comes from this. Nice-looking project in its current iteration.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT: Mount Pleasant Station | ?m | 1s | Metrolinx | NORR

The original opening date for this project was supposed to be this last September, yet they just finished pouring the station box here. This station can't be closer than 18 months from completion.

Leaside Village Shopping Centre Expansion (First Capital, 2s, Scoler Lee & Associates Architects)

Is the Shoppers from the Bayview main street area moving here? I'm assuming they won't keep both Shoppers on Bayview (the other one is just north of Broadway), and open this one in addition.

Fascinating bit about the former Yugoslavian consulate, being a former Yugoslavian myself. I wonder if this building turned into the Republic of Serbia consulate later. It was definitely in the same area. I know because I had to go pay them a visit and ask if they'll arrest me at the airport on...

I sure hope the tremendous amount of metal they extracted from this site gets recycled properly. Anyone know where it ends up?

That's good news about Maker Pizza. I was dreading the typical "drycleaner, bank, Starbucks" line-up. It's sad how decimated Bayview retail has become in the last year or so. Rents have gone ballistic, apparently.

    Toronto 815 Eglinton Avenue East | 114.45m | 34s | RioCan | Diamond Schmitt

I live a couple of blocks from this development. I'm not sure why a new elementary school has not been made a part of this or neighbouring new developments. Local schools are maxed out. I don't have an issue with the development, because this land needs densification, but there's definitely some...

Is that De La Salle High School in the foreground of the first pic, Ottawan?

Don't see a lot of progress since the Oct 12 picture. Must be moving along very slowly.

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

Thanks for the reply. What's the estimated completion time of all the work?

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

I'm confused, there's been construction going on in this section of the 401 for a while now, why is the newsrelease saying "construction begins"? Some sections look almost finished in concrete.

Up close, the materials aren't impressive. From a distance, the fins blend into the rest of the cladding. Therefore, this building should only be viewed from mid-distance, preferable at sunrise or sunset.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I use GoogleMaps on my Android Auto regularly, but always back-check with reality. If something doesn't make sense, I rely on my intuition. It has saved my ass many times. It tends to pick the easiest route, even through heavy traffic, and sometimes one-way streets are not programmed correctly...

Ford Gov't Selling Naming Rights for GO Stations

It's a shame that we'll have to stare at corporate logos every time we use publicly funded transportation in return for a what is essentially a drop in the bucket as far as ML's costs go.

    Toronto The Gloucester on Yonge | 147.82m | 44s | Concord Adex | a—A

Looks like they haven't value engineered this one down. Nice to see that, especially on a prominent street like Yonge. Cresford has really climbed near the top of the developer pile, in my mind.

This site uses just an astonishing amount of rebar.

This is looking promising. Cresford has a come a long way in the last 10 years. They were pretty disliked here in the early days, if I remember correctly.

An excavator feeding another excavator? Never seen that before. Must be excruciatingly slow. Good thing there's only a small pile left.

Reminds me of that Seth Meyers line when he was hosting Just for Laughs a few years ago: "You have a beautiful city in Toronto. I'd like to come back and see it when it's finished."
