The fire was actually at GoodLife upstairs. Water damage at Metro came from above. You can see they removed a whole bunch of ceiling tiles from the south end of the store (produce area). Had to evacuate the office tower (we're on the top floor), but later on didn't seem like a lot of damage...

I agree that the entrance is a bit of a mess, and hot, but the crowded ticket lines baffle me. Does no one know that you can buy tickets online? I walked right in at 10:30 on a Saturday, right past huge lines of people buying tickets.

Initially we were told that the vertical extension and recladding were at least 5-6 years away. Then recently we heard that it was off the table. This was after the interior work in the existing retail had begun. If I had to guess, I'd think maybe the "cube" and the total reno inside are coming...

Also, the centre will be pretty much dwarfed by the other condo developments surrounding (e-condos, 2221 Yonge etc).

If you look closely at the planters, you'll see that the edges are offset every 18" or so. That should be enough to prevent grinding. The benches on the other hand, especially the ones with no arm rests are prime.
