Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

^How does the Waterfront LRT fit into this plan for a relief line that extends west rather than north? How does this idea provide relief by reducing crowding at Yonge & Bloor? I haven’t studied maps of population density, employment, income, development potential, etc. for the westward...

    Toronto 2221 Yonge Condos | 192.62m | 58s | Tower Hill | Pei Partnership

I'm interested to see this building take shape. It will be making an impression on the Yonge & Eglinton neighborhood. I must say, this has to be the least active forum for a relatively tall building going up in Toronto!

GTHA Regional Transit Amalgamation Discussion: Superlinx/Subway Upload

For all of their shortcomings, the TTC has been running, arguably, the most underfunded transit system in North America. Yurek's comment smacks of hubris and makes me nervous about the future.

    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

What's with the hyperbole? I'm a long Toronto resident who's maintained an active interest in the development of our waterfront. WT has done a great job in creating a structured approach to developing the area in a way that will benefit and be livable for all of us for many, many years. It...

    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I'm not convinced that fireworks are imminent. This sounds like PC Doug meddling vs constructive dismissal for incompetence. Keep in mind that DMW ran for Doug's PCs in the last election and lost to a Liberal. Dougie is vindictive. Also, look at the CV's of the people being fired. Each one...

    Toronto 11 YV | 213m | 62s | Metropia | Sweeny &Co

A system of mountains in eastern North America. They were first formed roughly 480 million years ago during the Ordovician Period. They once reached elevations similar to those of the Alps and the Rocky Mountains before experiencing natural erosion....

Ontario Line North of Eglinton (was Relief Line North) (Speculation)

Good point. The distance from Sheppard to Pape Station along Don Mills is 12km. The distance from Sheppard to the Danforth along Vic Park is 9.8km. Considering the longer distance, I can't imagine the HOV lanes make the Don Mills route a faster trip.

Ontario Line North of Eglinton (was Relief Line North) (Speculation)

Is it possible that Don Mills is busier than Vic Park because there are more people living along the corridor, more places of work, more places of interest and a post secondary school at one end of the corridor?

Ontario Line North of Eglinton (was Relief Line North) (Speculation)

I was in the April consultation meetings also and I don't recall hearing about studies of ridership estimates for the proposed routes. The meetings were to assess potential routes and studies would follow. Feedback I offered in the meetings were the maps that outlinehd the route options show...

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto

At the risk of reopening the whole debate, my view of the bents is they are an ugly, industrial artifact. Had they been kept many visitors in the park would find their attention drawn to the noise, pollution and congestion of the expressway nearby rather than enjoy the park itself. They would...

    Toronto Concord Sky | 299m | 85s | Concord Adex | Kohn Pedersen Fox

If I were a developer I would push for the extra 1 meter and the super-tall designation. It may never be used in marketing material but it could be and that is the point. It does beg the question why developers are ok with building just below the 300M height.

    Forum Upgrade

Hi UT. This issue is basic web navigation that we've all become used to. Returning to the top of a forum page after reviewing a specific thread means you have to scroll down to find the next thread that may be of interest. Threads are not marked as read when using the back button, so it is a...

    East Don Trail Project

Comments and reports about this project have been shared in one of the cycling forums. It makes sense to track this separately as it is built.

Ontario Line North of Eglinton (was Relief Line North) (Speculation)

This sounds so manageable. All proposed DRL routes north of the Danforth could accommodate this construction methodology rather than drilling. I live in the area would gladly put up with the inconvenience for the cost savings and quicker completion.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

How is this a meaningless thing? If the PC's were ambivalent about investing in the DRL then they wouldn't sign off on the TPAP prior to the election. Providing their approval in the middle of an election means additional coverage. They are making a higher profile commitment to the DRL...

    Planned Sprawl in the GTA

This is a very interesting post. Earlier this week the G&M profiled a Toronto Mayoral candidate who suggested that housing pricing in Toronto was the result of failed government policies. We've limited development of the inner burbs (referred to as the Yellow-Belt) claiming that any change...

    Mississauga M3 at M City | 260.29m | 77s | Rogers Real Estate | Arcadis

Good for Mississauga! I won't be surprised to see mighty Mississauga with a very impressive super tall that exceeds TO's modest 307m addition to our skyline. I appreciate the need for planning guidelines but too often we seem to be constricting rather than enhancing outcomes.

    Toronto Cumberland Square | 253.92m | 75s | KingSett Capital | Giannone Petricone

How will the above ground parking meet the street wall? It will be ok if hidden behind retail or residential. While the overall concept is interesting the final product could look brutal if multiple floors are above ground parking, similar to Harbourfront on Queen's Quay or the massive grey...
