At the pace work is proceeding... this thread will be around forever. :)

I think the old security office will become stairs to the new Bay concourse if my memory serves correctly. (A la Harvey's.)

Forever hereafter. The Leather Shop Bypass. :)

I agree with you that the current Bay access has got to go. I am just thinking: If you were to look at the the North-Western-most area of the Bay concourse, Bondfield are focusing on excavating down to the new sub-level both inside and outside of the East Wing head-house building right now in...

I would be willing to say that the spaces have been turned over to the future tenants who now "have the keys" so to speak. The reason I say this is that new locks (Master Commercial Padlocks) have been added to the hoardings around the shops. This replaces the simplex pushbutton locks, which...

EDIT: If I had to guess I would say the public art installation is the problem here. From what I observed the moat was ready to use, i.e. the slab was poured and mechanical/electrical installation was complete. Then up went the orange tarps and nothing has changed since. Again this is not...

@interchange42 I agree here, the preferable option would have been to route passengers through the moat, down the stairs, and into the TTC. Completely avoiding the construction areas. But. For reasons unknown the Front Street moat is seriously delayed. Also you must consider that the...

@interchange42 This was a couple weeks ago, directly inside the TTC moat: http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/toronto-union-station-revitalization-m-s-city-of-toronto-zeidler.4308/page-191#post-1074933 Demo had already ripped up the slab and excavation was proceeding. As of last week they...

The cool part is they are pretty much this far down at this exact spot on the other side of the wall. Indeed it will be fun watching the new doorways open up. (I do wonder if they plan on running a pax hoarding/diversion through here.)

That is what I thought initially, but then I realized they are already level with the lowest grade in the new excavation. There is no further sub-basement than this level here:

I really wonder where that shaft goes... (yellow ladder/red tarp).

@interchange42 Where are these plans from? Osmington?

Also, cannot forget that once GC (Carillion in this case) completes the rough space, this is then handed over to Osmington and only then can the subs hired directly by future tenants begin their work. I believe the upper level York has been handed over, lower level not yet. Long process.

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

https://twitter.com/tnarduzzi/status/692896778673213442 "Honestly this seems like a simple fix. Equip @GOtransit rolling stock with pickup shoes. Raise all platforms in Union shed to "level" with cars. Install third-rail under new platforms. And done?" Trains would then switch from drawing...

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

Good find. Question, has Metrolinx studied third rail options? I know that St Pancras International has dual function: pantographs and third-rail.

There is access from within the York Promenade and access directly outside. The door that leads directly outside has a wicket/ticket window and leads to the moat just north of the York East Teamway.

It would be pretty awesome if they could just turn the whole property smoke-free and make it simple. I'm not usually against smokers but this is one instance where they are a bloody nuisance.
