GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

And Smarttrack stations. Yes, hated I know, but some of those stations on this map are being built because of it. I'd love to see some more of the stations on here built, but we would have to start using EMU's.

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Not really. Unless youre a huge flag carrier like Air Canada, an airline that isn't in a constant state of expansion is a dead airline that will be doomed to go out of business. There simply isn't much else service left from BB that Porter can fly to, without jets.

I thought the airport was a federal jurisdiction?

    VIA Rail

    Third tries the charm??? :/

    VIA Rail

Youre both right and wrong. The analogy you used is bad. To the average customer, it will seem like VIA, but operationally it will be separate in various ways.

    VIA Rail

I mean these days you might as well put down Class 6 rail and squeeze out 110mph/177kmh since you can. Still not high speed but I dont see the point of rebuilding to class 5 when you can do class 6. The Venture sets can do 125mph, might as well put down Class 6 with at grade crossings.

Nothing like facts to get in the way of a good argument!

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

while the missing link will be nice, so much can be done before it. The 3rd track in Brampton will facilitate a lot of traffic. Battery backup or Duel mode locos can bridge the gap between Bramalea and Brampton GO, and the GO owned portions can be electrified. It is possible to add more...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Unfortunately you are 100% wrong. CN has explicitly said that they 100% will not allow electrification on their lines or even NEAR them! As in not in the same corridor even if GO owned the lines. And the reason given by CN is they are concerned about the issues it would potentially create for...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

This is basically happening. But GO isnt one person, they can multitask. While AD2W is being ramped up with the existing fleet by adding more track, work is being done to prepare electrification. We will see AD2W on all GO owned lines in the next couple of years. We wont see it on the lines...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Thats because Toronto already barely has any highways compared to American cities even after the demolitions. Even Montreal makes Toronto seem European for how many highways they have criss-crossing the city. Which is funny because many people consider Montreal the more European city for their...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Id like to see the Scarborough Subway extended to MalvernTC along with this.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The 0.56 figure is on top of already a bunch of budget increases. Thats the recent increase. Its 3 billion over the original quote from like 2011 for the cost when construction started.

    Toronto Harbour Ferries

Im just guessing but he bought it cheap and probably did not realize the cost to maintain and service/run a vessel like this. Pandemic probably didn't help as well.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

At this rate the extension will open BEFORE the original line will haha. Good thing the MSF is so close!

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I agree but people have been sacked for less. Why do you think general managers of sports teams are fired after teams lose, same reason. "Burn the witch" and all that. People want to see consequences, they dont care if they are appropriate consequences.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

This is technically part of the Under Gardiner Project but I think deserves to be here too: Part of the Under Gardiner project is a MUT (Multi Use Trail) extending from Exhibition Place to Yonge street. Some of the trail already exists in pieces but this will link all of it together, including...

    VIA Rail

🤬 Although, useless unless VIA committed/funded to retracking the whole thing.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I wish GO would release a "double tracking" map, showing where track is doubled already and whats planned to do
