Apparently its something they're doing for pride month?

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I did mean that yes, I thought that the implication was clear since we're talking about 2012 here.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Karen Stintz is a former City councillor, best known for making the compromise with Rob Ford to get the Crosstown Built as an LRT, in exchange for getting the Sheppard Subway built as is. For better or worse, she's the reason why the Crosstown started construction when it did. What her...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

    1) LRTs are designed to last 30 years, meaning that in the future there is nothing precluding from converting the LRT into a Subway (that's what we did with the Yonge and Bloor-Danforth Streetcars). The only red flag in this regard is when the LRT itself is heavily tunneled **cough cough...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

that's a good joke, cut and cover in the 21st century? Not in my Toronto.

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

I mean that's kinda my point. When a City like LA or Houston has terrible transit, its a lot less acceptable and should be applied with a lot more scrutiny. I'm a lot more forgiving when a city as small as Halifax can only scrape together some BRT, compared to a City like San Antonio which makes...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

I think its important to look at it from the perspective of expectation. A city like NYC is expected to have good public transit with many lines. On the complete opposite, we have cities like Kitchener-Waterloo that are small, yet has a tram line that lets KW punch above its weight. You really...

They're basically the same, and both are a bit larger than DC.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

North York Centre was an infill station, an infill station that was planned for a long time, and tunnels were built with it in mind. The actual extension to Finch was a multi phase project that extended the line from Eglinton (first to York Mills, then to Finch). The only 1 stop extensions were...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

I fail to see why the new report would undersell the benefits, considering the people in charge very much want it to happen. Transit City oversold the benefits of LRT because the people in charge had a vested interest in pushing their ideas forward. Similarly, John Tory and the City is...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

You're right, but the big question is whether or not there is enough demand to justify the increased capacity of LRT, especially for $4B

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Assuming your numbers are correct (which I doubt), this is still a false equivalency. We're not talking about all of the boardings at Allandale Waterfront, but also all of the boardings at Barrie South, and Bradford, and Newmarket, and Maple, and every other station along the Barrie Line.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I will agree that an elevated HRT down Yonge Street in Thornhill might be a bit much, but that's where I draw the line. South of Clark and north of Royal Orchard is completely fair game and totally acceptable to elevate.

    Montréal Transit Developments

Ye, I do wonder if a better comparison would be GO Expansion when that final cost is calculated (although I imagine a 10 year time gap could make comparisons tricky)

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I'd agree, but there are 2 main issues I see: 1) The Kitchener Line is... right there, and will have 4 tracks. This leaves room to have as many infill stations as you want while still being able to run express/super express services if the province wished, and could easily act as the "North...

More riders from TOD, less riders from SSE/GO Expansion?

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Hence the current TOC plan. Which is why GO Expansion exists, The Ontario Line isn't alone.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

The only reason he's seen today as even remotely pro-transit is because of political circumstances surrounding Toronto when he left, especially Rob Ford's cancellation of Transit City. A lot of people are now looking back at this era with 20/20 hindsight, alongside his incoherent rants on...
