    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I agree that this kind of response is silly, that being said you haven't given many reasonable arguments to work off of. Even in this paragraph, it is filled with so many strawmen points - its amazing to hear you still think that "We need to build expensive subways everywhere" is something...

    Montréal Transit Developments

I think at this point we're pulling hairstrings, not to mention my main point of comparison was the OG expo line. That being said: 1) There will be a tunneled section for the REM between Marie-Curie and Airport Station with the latter being underground (although the tunnel will only be single...

The Skytrain tunnel I'm referring to is the Dunsmuir Tunnel - the one between Waterfront and Stadium-Chinatown Stations. Its a former single track freight tunnel that was refurbished for the Skytrain (they converted it to a stacked tunnel by adding a floor in the middle of it). Its actually...

Yesn't. The Gare Centrale turn around means that trains can't run every 90s, however I don't see a reason why they couldn't run every 3 minutes like in Toronto (its more or less the same setup as the Terminus stations here in Toronto - island platform with a double crossover right before the...

    Montréal Transit Developments

That's not what was officially reported. Maybe that's the number some media outlets (I'm assuming its LaPresse who absolutely despise the REM) forwarded out of context, but its actually 20,000 riders by 12:30-1pm, so 3-4 hours: By the end of the day they had over 60000 riders: Some things to...

    Montréal Transit Developments

I'd suggest you read what Metrolinx is saying more carefully. Their choice of words thus far has been "MINIMUM every 15 minutes OFF PEAK", or in other words, 15m is their low-ball estimate of what people should expect all day, as a baseline. In terms of what they're actually aiming for, its...

    Montréal Transit Developments

Apparently the line is running much slower today than it was yesterday during the media tours. Optimism suggests that they were taking it slow... just in case.

Its plastic longitudinal seating all the way to DM. They really want to squeeze out as much capacity as they possibly could from those trains.

    Montréal Transit Developments

We could but that's not in the plans at all. I wanted to stick with what's planned, what's provisioned, and what could be done with minimal time and money.

    Montréal Transit Developments

uh... no Don't get me wrong, the REM is an INCREDIBLE project, and its amazing that Montreal has a new line to be proud of. That being said, I can't stress the fact its only great by the standards of the low bar that North America has set for itself. When we actually consider its impacts to the...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I'm guessing this is a technicality. You're allowed to speak up so long as you're ready to face the consequences of what you say. Its as if I say "You can kill anyone you like, so long as you're ready to face whatever life sentences you're ready to face" - it might be true in the most technical...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

If we went back even further, we could've extended the subway along the old Rail ROW without needing to build an LRT or dig a 40m deep tunnel (before the ROW had houses plopped onto it).

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

There is a difference between having nice/fancy stations, and having gargantuan palaces. Nobody is saying build Moscow, but a lot can be said about replacing some of the monotonous flat architecture with arches, and some nice tiling work.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

That doesn't mean we're not allowed to complain about it. Sure, maybe that's how it is, but that doesn't mean that's the way it aught to be. Painting all conspiracy theories with the same brush is very disingenuous and not helpful. There is a difference between believing in Hollywood lizard...

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

Perhaps, but that's probably because we are a LONG ways off before the idea of tolling the 401 becomes a reasonable idea in any meaningful sense.

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

You know, some of use use it outside of peak hours You're comparing leisure facilities to critical transportation infrastructure? People don't need to go out and hit the ice rink unless they want to play some hockey or do some ice skating. People and businesses NEED the 401 to get to work or...

    Ottawa Transit Developments

My question is whether or not these numbers are comparable. The turn out of Union happens as soon as you leave the station, this means you don't have much time to accelerate out of the station and can take the turn at station speed. Meanwhile the Hurdman curve is comparatively quite some...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Meanwhile I'm riding the TYSSE on a saturday, and most of the seats are taken the moment I get on at H407.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

What makes the TTC typeface great in my eyes, especially for outdoor wayfinding is the big bold letters which makes it very easy to distinguish letters from a distance with minimal confusion. This means that it is far more easier to read and identify the name of a station on some banner when a...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Well that doesn't exactly apply to transit stops which will mostly be accessed by pedestrians who aren't running at 120km/h. And while this is opinion, I can't say that my personal experience with Clearview on Highways has been all that great, I personally find Highway Gothic much easier to read.
