Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Wait are you comparing some rich guy's self paid/self installed heated driveway, to having the government pay for an entire city's worth of heated bike infrastructure? Its not like the city is subsidizing homeowners to install heated driveways, most of us are still lugging snow with a shovel, or...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

So you want heated guideways now? I'm sorry but why do you want to spend so much money on weird bespoke technology for a line that will only last 5-6 years? Get this, we're not building this because "we didn't come up with this", we're not building it because this is ridiculous and insane...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Getting teachers to use public transit to get to school is like the low hanging fruit of low hanging fruit. If your goal is to help/solve climate change, your priority absolutely should not be "Elementary School Teachers", especially when they work in places that are arguably the hardest to...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

As someone who grew up in York Region, my elementary school both had bike racks that fairly consistently got filled up, and plenty of kids who walked to school. In 7th and 8th grade I got sick of the school bus so I biked for 5km to get to school. Now get this: absolutely nobody cared.

... not having to build grade separations? They literally announced that the whole line will be buried, ie, it is fully grade separated. Where do you think that $36B price tag came from?

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I thought the discussion was around running 50-60km/h between intersections, and it being 40km/h at intersections, my bad, which is why I brought up the trams being slow to begin with. That being said, I looked at a section of the Belgian tram when its actually running in an urban area where...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Again I want you to be careful, because I brought up the fact that the tram could also be naturally travelling slowly. In that clip of the Belgian Coastal Tram you sent for instance, its literally travelling at 40km/h on that beachfront section. It might not look that slow in the footage, but...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I'm not sure which cities you're referring to, but it does slow down in many cities, even european ones. I watched the cab ride for the Belgium Coast tram a few months ago, and it absolutely slowed down when it got to areas with many intersections. The thing is in most cities, trams that run in...

Well I presume this Ivan guy doesn't really have someone to send you to, its a completely different organization with its own people and characters. If you want to find who to talk to at the Toronto Transportation Services, you'll have to contact the city directly.

In this case "Woke" is likely a synonym for Orange Pilled, a european style urbanist (similar to NJB) who believes that elevated transit shouldn't exist, and that trams should be the priority mode. There is a lot of overlap between the two groups so I wouldn't say the terminology is completely...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I think this qualifies as "technically true". From what we know, the TSP isn't constant, but rather only activates whenever a train is behind schedule - similar to Viva. Regardless, the LRVs do still technically "have signal priority".

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

This can come from many factors, such needing to rebuild the platform itself because the platform edge can't support the weight of PSDs, or needing to retrofit ventilation systems into the stations because you can no longer rely on fresh air coming in via the tunnels (assuming you're building...

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I think this is the big issue here, and it comes from a decade of horrible education policy. The liberal government (as well as society in general) pushed people so hard to get a post secondary education, and to basically have an economy of programmers/IT that we have a massive shortage of new...

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Furthermore, its worth noting the cost comparison Metrolinx did, where they claimed the whole alignment can be done by BRT for $1B, meanwhile LRT would only account for the 3 westernmost stations. This tells to me that either the utilities work isn't included in the cost anymore, or the cost of...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Newer Ontario Highways typically use concrete surfaces - examples include the 404 North extension, part of the rebuilt 115 are concrete. The 407 in particular is concrete from Highway 403 all the way to Markham Road (except for bridges, the bridges are paved with Asphalt typically).
