    TTC: Streetcar Network

So I have made what I believe should be my final maps for the streetcar network unless I can think of something else. The first map is of the "Tripper" services from around the mid-1930's. Tripper's only operated in peak directions during rush-hour (inbound during the A.M. rush and outbound...

    TTC: Streetcar Network

Adobe Illustrator I chose Stavebank instead of just Port Credit since the latter doesn't really tell you where in Port Credit the line ends. I know the original line only made it as far as the Credit River and Stavebank Road is the nearest road to the river.

Another map, this one showing the streetcar network at its peak under the TTC in 1931. This map also shows the 3 lines that were owned by the Township of York Railway's but operated by the TTC under contract. Just like before this map uses a New York system with letters denoting TTC routes...

    TTC: Streetcar Network

Made another map, this one based around the Toronto Railway Company, Toronto Civic Railway, and Toronto Suburban Railway at their peaks after World War I before they became part of the TTC in 1921. This map is the same as last time with it using a New York style designation system. TRC routes...

    TTC: Streetcar Network

Made this map showing the Streetcar network at the peak of the Toronto Street Railway era before there operating charter expired in 1891; this was before electrification when the lines were still operated by horse-drawn cars. The real routes never had any kind of designation and were just known...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

You are correct the Eglinton West Subway had no proposal to be extended to Yonge Street at the time it was thought up, and this carried over to the Rae days when the line was truncated. The line had it been built in either form (to Pearson or Mount Dennis) would have been completely useless to...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I was using school buses for field trips all the way up until the last one I went on in 2010 (Grade 10 field trip to the Science Centre). I never had to take a TTC bus for a field trip and the only time we didn't use a school bus was for trips outside of Toronto; for those they would charter a...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

The problem with this is that subway construction in Toronto is even more expensive than LRT construction so a policy of all or nothing on Subways is a policy of "Pay More, Get Less". It's not LRT construction costs that need to be brought down, its subway construction costs that have to come...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Are you saying the TTC's head of subway construction back in the 80's was wrong when he made this statement?

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

All this discussion about underpinning makes it a shame that Donlands is out of the way for the routes alignment since it was underpinned when it was built.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

For Scarborough Centre Station the Civic Centre would be a great jumping off point to me. As someone who live near McCowan and Lawrence I can't really think of anything in the area that really inspires any sort of artistic feeling in me. Sure there is the hospital and the ravine but that's...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

I figured this would happen; they'll probably buy up some of Vancouver's Mark I's as well.

The TTC used to run a special Christmas bus between 1955 and 1960.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I don't think either Science Centre or Eglington West will have washrooms. That said washrooms at Science Centre could easily be part of the Ontario Line part of the station.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Nice to see them considering a Blue Night route on Markham Road. I remember suggesting like a year ago that if the route existed it should have the number 302. The current;y 302 Danforth would be renumbered to 316 since it parallels the 16 McCowan.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

It probably doesn't for much longer. After what happened at the meeting it should be clear that the writing is on the wall and he is no longer wanted so I wouldn't be surprised if he either steps down on his own or quietly waits out the rest of his contract and then leaves. What other choice...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Yes I was there, it was nice to see it one last time. New rapid transit lines opening happens all the time, but its not everyday a rapid transit line closes; really feels like a once in a life-time experience.
