    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I think I wasn't clear on what I meant. The City in Brampton is interested in giving more pedestrian and cycling space, not getting rid of cars entirely. That's why the surface option for this extension has it running in mixed traffic with cars, because according to city staff the only option...

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

Its cool to see how many more riders Yonge North is expecting, a lot more than I thought it was.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

I mean I agree but if the region is struggling to financially justify that extra service, longer trains is a fine stop gap.

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

It seems you don't understand what's going on in Brampton. Brampton is currently the hotspot for the tens of thousands of international students that come to Ontario every year. They are the reason why Zum ridership has absolutely exploded in the last decade, currently smashing pre-covid...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Really, you think comparing these 3 areas are crazy? They look pretty similar to me...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Its a historic downtown with very limited roadspace that the city is interested in pedestrianizing part of. Its not the greatest excuse, but its far from the worst excuse that has been made for burying a section. Its no worse than burying the section of Eglinton between Mt Dennis and Bathurst...

    Montréal Transit Developments

The bigger news referenced by this article is that the CDPQi is shelving the South Shore REM project, where they would build a REM line on Taschereau running between Panama and Longeuil, and a bit beyond: https://lp.ca/9WPFAH?sharing=true It looks like Montreal is back to the status quo of not...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

It's because BRT allows you to reuse a ton of existing infrastructure. If its an already busy corridor, you don't need to purchase new busses or build a new Garage (in fact you might be able to save on operations compared to status quo due to needing to run less busses due to less congestion)...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I assume in the case of Eglinton East you have to factor in road realignments, utility relocations, new MSF, new Vehicles, clearing for the new ROW in the roadside segments (Morningside/Ellesmere), rebuilt intersections with new signalling, building proper stations, and I'm probably missing some...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I watched the cabride for the Valley Line the day it opened, and its amazing how quickly it went from 100 to 1. The section from Mill Woods to Davies was perfectly fine, but as soon as it left the elevated guideway and entered the median of 83rd St, it just slowed to a crawl and stayed that way...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Please tell me, which of these concepts overlap? As far as I'm concerned none of these lines in any capacity step over each other's toes other than maybe this hypothetical Sheppard East to Pickering and the DSBRT (IE, Not Eglinton East)

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Eglinton East has nothing to do with those. Eglinton East acts as a way to have a major local arterial serving through central Scarborough, it can easily stand on its own as a local line, both by demand and connectivity. In fact, it does extremely well when paired up with the SSE, Sheppard East...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I currently live in Ottawa, where we have a Fully Grade Separated Transitway and a Fully Grade Separated LRT to compare and contrast. I'll tell you right now, the LRT is not that much nicer to ride on than the transitway bus services (and I mean the LRT on a good day when its running as...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

The Eglinton East LRT is currently projected to be $3.9 Billion without any underground stations (all of those were cut out when they made it a standalone line). To look at another city, LA is building the East San Fernando Valley Line which will be entirely on street, and cost ~3.7B for 6.7 miles.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

The current Gatineau Mayor doesn't even like the tramway, so I doubt anyone will be paying for it at this point.

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I think the problem is its hard to be an arm's length agency when your funding depends on making sure the people in charge are happy. If there isn't much stopping Doug Ford from slashing your budget if he isn't happy with your output, its hard to claim that you operate an arm's length away.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I'd rather have a smaller bus that runs every 3m vs a larger tram that runs every 7, or in simpler terms, small vehicles running more frequently > large vehicles running less frequently, and paying more for that to happen is worth it. Yes but when the Eglinton East LRT costs $4B whilst being...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Metrolinx has been pushing for this to happen for years. The only reason it hasn't is because the City was adamantly against it. In fact, I believe some time ago, John Tory started backing the Ontario Line on the sole condition that the province wouldn't pursue uploading the existing subway.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

I'm going to say this as someone who's on record for saying that the Scarborough-Malvern LRT (Eglinton East) was one of the good projects in Transit City. When you look at the actual numbers, the project doesn't make any sense what-so-ever. It is going to be a separate line from the Eglinton...

    Ottawa Transit Developments

This is the trillium line, set to hopefully open this april. The west extension has been delayed until 2027.
