GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Minor nitpick, but if you move the RH line to follow the Midtown Line for that section, you can easily justify building a station at Sunnybrooke Park to connect to Line 5.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I was under the impression that the current plan for Confederation GO based on recent diagrams would have the train joining the existing mainline immediately after West Harbour rather than extending the tracks all the way to Confederation. But I guess that's no longer the plan?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I think he jokingly meant that the rails themselves should be electrified and shock anyone who touches them

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The big reason for the upload is because many of the bridges are reaching EOL and need replacing, something that is very expensive and Ottawa doesn't have the money for. This is basically a gift for the city similar to uploading the Gardiner. Unless E.C Row and RHVP have similar issues I don't...

People say "Take the 7 Bus" or "The 510 Streetcar" all the time, what are you talking about?

    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

Have you looked a the population numbers for these outlying areas and communities? They all have population counts sitting in the 4 digits, with the only outlier I can find being Carleton Place at 12k. For contrast, Orangeville has a population of 28k that dwarfs over all of these communities...

Why not? Has anyone in history ever went to Paris and was like "You told me to take the T2? Oh I confused it with Metro Line 2".

    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

Ottawa needs a GO like system? Where? STO and OCTranspo already have fare integration, so that's not a problem. I've used some STO busses to get around Gatineau and especially used the Rapidbus, its mostly fine if you need to get around some of the core suburbs. The only real issue that...

    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

I'm not sure where to find the original legal documents (someone more familiar with Metrolinx can chime in), but I found this as evidence: In short, Metrolinx has a mandate from the provincial government that outlines which regions/counties they have jurisdiction over, and have the freedom to...

    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

Listen its not that I disagree with your assertion that the government should provide services to non-Toronto centric areas, but your logic that they should do that because the service is called "Government of Ontario Train/Bus" is silly. Metrolinx has a mandate, and that mandate only covers...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Oh good they've come to their senses and decided to add the Line Number to the station name banner. ... I'm still going to complain about the use of Clearview ADA though

    Scarborough RT Conversion To Park

I'm not sure I agree. Whilst today STC is just an upscale mall, in the future the province wants to make it a major TOC cluster. As such I don't think its unreasonable that given 10-20 years, STC will have the urban context to make the highline interesting. I think it has purpose as a minor...

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

This is a business case, not an engineering document. The graphics were probably done by someone whose sole understanding of trains is what the go train looks like.

https://assets.metrolinx.com/image/upload/v1667497052/Images/Metrolinx/GO_Expansion_FBC.pdf Do note that these are pretty outdated and almost certainly don't represent what Metrolinx is actively planning for any of these lines.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

The big problem is its hard to have a "discussion" on something where any arguments are entirely based off subjective/emotional states. If you feel like Metrolinx is chopping down too many trees to get a project built whether its due to a very ecological outlook on development, or they're...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Nobody is giving anyone immunity from criticism, our issue is that we don't see this particular piece of criticism as being in any way warranted, and that this whole affair is rather overblown.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Not that I disagree with you overall point, but comparing what is effectively a light metro to what I presume are on street light rail segments where trams turn at like 10km/h is a bit strange.
