They probably wanted to make sure they had sold each condo appropriately before spending the time on the podium, foundations. As projects go, The Well is quite unique whereas Pinnacle is making sure they have the correct interest before starting the next phase.

They likely hoisted it up there, got some cool pictures for marketing purposes and then sent it right back down. Or, there are two white beams. Let the speculation commence.

I have some hope for Tridel after 10 York but they need to have a couple products at that quality before I'd consider them a go to. Interested to see if Lanterra can do a bit of a 180 with 50 Scollard but we'll be a waiting a bit for that to pan out so wouldn't want to risk it on this one!

Probably because like 95% of people couldn't care less about curtain vs window wall. We are a very niche group haha

I quite like the way the colours behind the glass walls on the right are defused with that head on angle. I imagine these will make for very interesting lantern-like homes.

I suspect once some of the trim and crossbracing gets added as the tower rises we'll all like this a bit more.

    Toronto CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

I think in general the steel is always going to be slower than the glass, so as we get towards the final floors it's natural for the glass to catch up and seemingly lag behind. I suspect we'll stay 2-3 floors below the fireproofing tarps.

At the end of the day it's just a tall building for the über rich. Seems silly for things to get so personal and heated when, beyond the new addition in the skyline, it will have ultimately zero affect on all our lives.

Given the entirety of the building is essentially these glass blocks, and that means a lot of glass blocks, they probably need to get the show on the road making them. If the developer, architect and I assume the glassmakers are all on board with the quality and outcome it's full steam ahead.

If they were to create "Faux-Alsop" I'd push for something more like the Peckham Library. Let the table-top stay special and unique.

There's never going to be a 400m tower that close to the CN Tower.

The renders haven't been completely reliable as of yet but the most recent ones (posted above) are likely what we'll get. I think once the metal accents are added it will change the appearance of the tower's cladding (likely making it look a lot darker). Best to hold judgement until we get a few...

They really don't have that kind of money. An addition on the main building is a great start and I suspect they'll continue to pick up parts of buildings around the area (MFA and Language studies are down on Richmond for instance).

I can't recall of another scenario like this where it was a matter of permits. Obviously some mismanagement on likely both sides of the equation. The other "unbuilt" scenarios were due to money typically (One Bloor East and the very famous Bay Adelaide "Stump").

It's back open now but ya that whole area is a mess. They released plans to actually pile down to bedrock for Millennium tower which is pretty deep down in that part of town (lot's of infill here).

Very cool. Will be interesting to see these assembled and in context. I think a big part of this will be the light play with shadows, interior lighting and eventually the vines that will creep around them.

I don't recall them ever claiming the entirety of the Portlands... Even in their planning documents they show the scale of their site being limited to a northern section of this development. From my understanding these renders are more of a "imagine how this whole space will feel in the future"...

Probably because some people don't know how to use that terribly outdated (and hidden) reference system? It's why I've been hoping for links to said dev apps in the Database pages.
