    Charles-Hayden Parking Garage (+2s) COMPLETE

The Eddy condo in Ottawa (Ottawa!) has one already built. There are a few in Toronto using stackers (Hive Lofts).

    Charles-Hayden Parking Garage (+2s) COMPLETE

There are too many errors and inconsistencies in that "rumor". There are many automated parking structures either built or under construction.

    Toronto Sun Life Financial Tower & Harbour Plaza Residences | 236.51m | 67s | Menkes | Sweeny &Co

Window wall works as an assembly, the weak points or thermal bridges are the mullions and panel joints. Apparently the performance of an insulated spandrel panel is only marginally better than a vision panel and the system as a whole performs very poorly. As well, window wall is a face sealed...

I agree, and it doesn't seem fair to pick on these buildings but at some point, the bar for solid design has to be raised. The 100% window wall formula is entirely unsustainable and at some point has to be viewed as substandard. There are all these projects across the city with clear continuous...

If you stand this up in virtually any city in the world, it would be in the upper tier. I'm not saying it tops that tier, but it certainly competes in a way that very few Canadian high-rises do. And seriously, it's an international award winning design that is basically a 1 in 30 year project by...

    Toronto 88 Scott Street | 203.9m | 58s | Concert | P + S / IBI

I know it's still not likely, but more plausible here than at INDX (design-wise).

I generally agree about Scotia Plaza but I forgot when exactly it was built (finished in '88). Florian I would say is less conceptually striking, same with EY. Shangri-la and Four seasons would be in the same category. Tableau is a tier below in detail and finish quality.

And you hurl German? You don't have to like it. This site, which I do know a little about, has a building it deserves.

Name a more well executed high-rise in Toronto in the last 30 years, I'm genuinely curious.

I wouldn't be completely shocked to see curtain wall used for the bulk of the tower. The balcony arrangement lends itself to curtain wall as it leaves large vertical expanses unbroken. The project is also listed on Toro Glasswall's site (Glasswall's is Toro Aluminum's curtain wall subsidiary)...

    Toronto One Bloor East | 257.24m | 76s | Great Gulf | Hariri Pontarini

This building from architectural concept, detailing and quality of finishes is probably the most well rounded high-rise building built in this city in the last 30+ years. I understand the desire to always push the envelope, but saying the site deserves better is a little ridiculous. It's kind of...

    Toronto oneeleven Condominiums | 55.47m | 17s | Harhay | Core Architects

It is actually very impressive. The form follows a simple set of rules which aren't undermined by poor material quality. Compare the random, varied form to the podium of Studio on Richmond, it's night and day.

    Toronto The Yorkville Condominiums | 104.54m | 31s | Lifetime | Wallman Architects

I wonder what eventually happens to poorly executed new construction....it becomes existing housing stock. The city and all its inhabitants feel the effects. You can get off your high horse by the way.

The existing system has failed miserably in terms of ensuring quality design and construction across the industry. There are any number of reasons why, but it is not as simple as saying regulation exists in theory and that is all that is needed. It's also not as simple as having "render...

Neither is it necessary to have buildings that ignore principles of good urban design.

Windows on (or virtually on) the property line are a perfect example of why planning departments exist. Toronto has a somewhat unfortunate history with this issue but that doesn't mean we should me moving backward. The idea that a project which ignores the welfare of its inhabitants could be a...

You know, that is really lazy and uninformed. You clearly don't have a shred of credibility when it comes to this industry. I'd try to craft a more nuanced response but I honestly don't think it is worthwhile.
