    YRT/Viva Construction Thread (Rapidways, Terminals)

While there have been very well publicized issues with edge cases I think autonomous vehicles would be a good fit for low traffic areas like subdivisions. I envision the vehicles driving far below the speed limit and being clearly marked as being driverless. As you pointed out though this could...

    YRT/Viva Construction Thread (Rapidways, Terminals)

I think autonomous vehicles that drop off users to the nearest route on the grid would make more sense in my opinion. This could also work for office parks and industrial areas.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I don't think it is, it's only a matter of informing the public. I don't think it's a question of need as much as it would be an improvement to the network. This is a strawman argument. I think it should also be pretty obvious that thinking something is a cool idea isn't the same as thinking...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I think the users of the line 1 extension would accept the increased 'confusion' of interlining if it meant that service would effectively double on that section of the line. The chaos should also be greatly mitigated by ATC (and there are also informational screens on the platforms that I...

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I don't think it would be framed in terms of additional funding for transit so much as going back to the original plan

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

It seems inevitable at this point that this project becomes a voting issue in upcoming provincial and federal elections. Peter Kent and Melissa Lantsman's statement was, in my opinion, the first sign that the federal Conservatives will end up running against this proposal with the promise of...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I think your objections are valid overall but Crossrail is an rung above metro and the Crosstown is a rung below so I don't believe that it is completely fair to compare the two

    YRT/Viva Construction Thread (Rapidways, Terminals)

It should be noted that far fewer users would be taking dangerous shortcuts if the service was more frequent and less erratic

    BRT vs. LRT

This is from The North American Light Rail Experience: Insights for Hamilton There is no issue of congestion in Hamilton, a low density mid-tier Canadian city, so why would a so-called 'proper metro' be the ideal solution? The LRT should be seen, in my opinion, as part of a more complete city...

    BRT vs. LRT

I reject the premise that this is somehow the 'ideal' situation.

    BRT vs. LRT

I think the advantage of LRT for a place like Hamilton is the confidence it gives developers to invest in the area and thus spur increased density and economic activity.

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I think this is relevant to the BRT vs LRT discussion https://www.tbnewswatch.com/local-news/trudeau-makes-virtual-visit-to-thunder-bays-alstom-plant-3782023

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Perhaps they were a mistake? Is that supposed to be a controversial thing to believe? Either way, I don't think we can reach any conclusion as to what would have occurred in lieu of extensions of the existing subway lines.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

On one hand I agree but I also think there is merit in gibsonm's view as well. I think the concept of authenticity is a lot more nebulous than we would like to admit sometimes. For example, The Ise Grand Shrine in the historic city of Kyoto is rebuilt every twenty years; the first Parliament...

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

I think one of the benefits of hypothetically paying for fare integration without controlling the entire system, from the province's perspective, would be not being responsible for billions of dollars of SOGR

    YRT/Viva Construction Thread (Rapidways, Terminals)

yeah but the impulse is understandable, to me at least, because the station as designed now is not very good. major mackenzie is often congested so buses struggle to keep to their schedule. there's not enough trust on the user end to be able to have an interchange that takes so long to traverse...

    YRT/Viva Construction Thread (Rapidways, Terminals)

the southwest corner is owned by the town https://www.richmondhill.ca/en/find-or-learn-about/Civic-Precinct-Project.aspx and the owner (in 2017) of the northeast corner wanted to build a 5 storey building. of course the situation is most likely more complex than it appears but it seems to me...

    Liberty Village pedestrian link

I'm not an archetect but I think it would have looked better if they put focus on the structures and minimized the pathway, perhaps using an all glass design for that. It kind of uses the design language of the condos in the area which is kind of cool but it doesn't go far enough imo

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

that's true but 70% of the riders are boarding or alighting at don mills station. it has the same ridership as st. clair according to the latest table from the link you provided
