    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Back when Rob was in charge, I never would have expected that 10 years later it would be Doug Ford building a downtown subway with a left wing ex mayor arguing it should be cancelled. Truly bizarre take from Miller acting as though it's frivolous or unnecessary. Has he ever tried to get across...

    Toronto Rail Deck District | 227.23m | 70s | Craft Dev Corp | Sweeny &Co

I know the Rail Deck Park is probably a fantasy that will never happen, but if this goes through, it still will be really sad to officially lose the dream. It would just be such an incredible upgrade for the city if you could create a cool public space over that corridor. It's not like there...

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

Back when many people were saying "why would they build a new stadium? The current one is fine" - there's a big part of your answer. The ability to create new premium spaces and charge an absolutely insane amount for it.

    Toronto BMO Field Renovations | ?m | ?s | MLSE | Gensler

It's really not an aesthetically pleasing renovation, even if it is temporary. Looks pretty bush league imo. Unfortunately, looking through the 2026 World Cup venues, I think ours will be by far the least impressive (except perhaps Vancouver might give us a run for our money). But what can...

    Transit City Plan

I am excited for the Eglinton and Finch LRTs but I can't say I was a massive fan of Transit City. Ignoring subways entirely just felt like stubbornly sticking to an ideology, rather than doing what's needed. Also I thought the Sheppard forced transfer idea was terrible. I can't believe Miller...

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

Jeff Blair was saying this week that one of the most impressive things about Shapiro's tenure is the way he's managed to navigate the Blue Jays ownership in a way that Paul Beeston never could. It's hard to argue. Rogers used to be really tight with spending on the club. Now they have the 5th...

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

With Rogers Centre becoming more baseball centric, and the World Cup approaching in 2026, I'm really surprised there's been no talk of a new multi purpose stadium that could seat in the 60,000 + range and host large events, international soccer, and possibly be used as a lure for the NFL. When...

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

Yes totally. Shapiro has been really clear that this reno should buy the dome another 10 to 15 years, at which point either a new stadium is built or the Skydome gets massively renovated.

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

Mark Shapiro said in an interview that there is machinery under the 100 level seats that was used to re configure the seats for football. Now they’re able to remove that and create quite a bit of space there apparently. Overall though, other than the seats and orientation I imagine they’ll...

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

Exciting stuff. And, worth keeping in mind, this is just one half of the renovation. The 100 level will be torn out and redone after the 23 season.

    Toronto St Clair-Old Weston GO Station | 9.13m | 1s | City of Toronto | Hatch

Will the streetcar extend to the station? It must right?

    Toronto Rail Deck District | 227.23m | 70s | Craft Dev Corp | Sweeny &Co

So essentially, they will now have to pay taxes on the rail deck air rights, and that might dissuade them from seeing their project through if it's just sitting undeveloped for years? If the city still wants the park to happen I wonder if they could exacerbate things and keep it delayed...

Looks like a 100 level outfield concourse bar area that allows you to look on to the field maybe? That would be a nice improvement. The concourse there was a real empty dead zone.

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

This might be an ignorant question, but are those travel times considered slow for train travel? I love the project, but it's a shame that it's not particularly faster than driving.

I agree. I'm bullish on these renos. Even the minor changes they've made in the last 10 years have made a big difference. Really looking forward to seeing how it looks.

    Toronto The Well | 174.03m | 46s | RioCan | Hariri Pontarini

Really cool video. Such a shame the Rail Deck Park seems like it had no legs. Imagine that video going through The Well and ending on a big park - would be fantastic.

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

I agree, I don't think Downsview is a good option. But the 'Jays don't draw' thing has really been proven incorrect since 2015, at least when the team is good. Just did a quick skim and the Jays have had 19 games of 40,000+ crowds this year. And I'm guessing they'll get several more down the...

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

Shapiro said in the press conference that this will reduce capacity to somewhere closer to 40k. He also did talk a bit about how stadiums now all have less capacity than they used to. It's all about maxing out on those extremely expensive luxury seats and boxes etc.

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

Shapiro said in the press conference that once these upgrades are done, the Blue Jays will probably have a team working full time on the long term solution (be that a new stadium or far more extensive reno).

Yeah, the Jays have had a lot of trouble signing or extending big free agents the last couple of years /s. (Ryu, Springer, Berrios, Gausman).
