    Greenbelt developments

Canada / Ontario has a pretty sophisticated governance regime and strong institutions designed precisely to deal with these issues. For what it is worth, if there is massive corruption I feel confident it will be identified and parties will be held accountable - but it is probably more likely...

    Toronto 2180 Yonge | 247m | 65s | Oxford Properties | Hariri Pontarini

The green space / park is a welcome effort but it is sort of hidden behind the buildings. I think that would make it less attractive to residents of the broader area (beyond the specific tower residents but perhaps them too). The primary access/open point is on Duplex which sees a lot less foot...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT: Eglinton Station | ?m | 1s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Is the completion of this station the primary roadblock to finalization? or are there other known issues they are working through?

That is an underwhelming array of food options so far. Could be any mall food court in North America.

    Toronto U of T: Schwartz Reisman Innovation Centre (Phase 1) | 64.8m | 13s | U of T | Weiss/Manfredi

I turned out a much better addition than I had initially worried it might be. Now lets how it actually does what is intended and helps create some new businesses and economic opportunities for our city.

Toronto Scotiabank North Tower at Bay Adelaide Centre | 140.2m | 32s | Brookfield | KPMB

Pedestrianizing Temperance would be such a win. It is pretty impassable by cars as it is anyway now. These 3 machines for office workers would really benefit from having something a bit extra at the base.

I had the exact same thought that it reminded me of York (only it looks more hip - which seems like an statement that can not be true in both instances- but somehow I think it is).

Richmond Hill High Tech Transit Oriented Community | ?m | 80s | Metrus | BDP Quadrangle

I thought his article was solid, and on point. We need more density - but built in a sustainable way and city building is hard to do quickly. There was separate editorial in the Globe on our housing crisis nationally - which I think is good as at it is starting to get more open minded...

Toronto AGO: Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery | 48.35m | 6s | AGO | Diamond Schmitt

I am blown away that she engages in debate on Twitter. That for me, shows me she may in fact be clinically insane.

    Toronto U of T: John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design | 18.9m | 3s | U of T | NADAAA

Murals, for me, always seem like an art form trapped in the 1970's. (not in any good way)

Is this for real permanent? it ruins this side of the building IMO. (not a mural fan in general)

    Toronto Mirvish Village (Honest Ed's Redevelopment) | 85.04m | 26s | Westbank | Henriquez Partners

Supply and Demand. Why is demand the problem (our city and country growing)? Maybe we need to build more 3 and 4 bedroom housing that can accommodate a family. Maybe we can build that in our cities (instead of just towers) maybe our greenbelt is a brake on sprawl (and not a wall to be jumped...

A bit of irony that the Star is moving into the old address of the Globe & Mail...

    67 Adelaide St E Revovation (Na-Me-Res, 4s, Hilditch)

it looks like an indigenous homeless shelter...and I can't think that is a good thing.

    Toronto CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

From an architecture perspective, I agree with you -but as the branding opportunities are assets worth millions, it is unrealistic to expect the owners of these buildings to prioritize design over financial returns.

Although this is pretty valuable real estate - will it end up being a gravel parking lot for a few years?

predicting the future is tough these days...but I struggle to see a lot of new demand given the hybrid work from home flexibility everyone is aligning too right now.

    Toronto 500 Duplex | 44.7m | 12s | Streamliner | Arcadis

This area down by Eglinton is already pretty developed so perhaps the pushback would be less than if it was 4 or 5 blocks north.

    Toronto 16 York | 154.83m | 32s | Cadillac Fairview | a—A

This is an interesting move as centralizing in the downtown core seems to me to be a vote for transit oriented commuting (which given the pandemic was an uncertain premise at least in the short-term).
