Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

For the second point of that remark, go tell that to the youth of Canada struggling with high unemployment. Go tell them if they do get a job EVEN IF ITS AN HOUR AWAY that's shame on them, according to you. You, people, are unreal.

I am not a 'You People'.

I am someone who came from two parents neither of whom graduated High School and was first in my family to do so, first to go to and graduate university, who quit a corporate office job after 3 promotions in 2 years to go pursue a different career for which I had a passion.

I know what challenges are, and I know what hard work is and I know what risk-taking is all about............

I also know that if I really wanted a job an hour away............I'd plan to move to where the job is..........by all means get the job first and finish your probationary period..............but then move........how is that a more challenging ask than commuting an hour each way twice a day? Its not.

Its only that that the commuting option requires your hand in my pocket to build you a very expensive road which you aren't willing to pay for yourself; if its a toll road.....and you want it.......go for it.

If you live in Barrie or Keswick and get a job downtown, this highway you are defending will not help you get to work any faster.

I hope you understand that.

*If* this was coupled with an absolute name on further sprawl and development on small towns – which it won't – then build it. Instead, traffic will be worse within a couple of years of this opening
Don't worry. When the traffic doesn't improve the same posters will just reply 'one more lane bro'

Ever think with the prices of rent and homes, maybe someone who's like 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, plus can't afford to move closer to where they landed a job, and can only afford what they can afford, even if that's still living at home. It's a nice store. I come from a similar background and now work at an insurance company in London, but I won't use that as a crutch in a common-sense argument, which is that Toronto is a heavily congested city that needs more transportation options for the public. Period

agree. The 400 and 401 are already insane with traffic. If this highway provides another option for the people, then I agree, bring it on.
This highway is too far from the 401 to be a 401 alternative.

I know the pro highway guys don't like reading this. But this highway only saves you minutes compared to cutting through other adjacent roads. Let's not act like it will make any earth shattering changes.

Doing nothing won't make any earth-shattering changes either, try and remember that one as well.

Who said we should do nothing?

That doesn't mean this highway is a good idea.
"Environmental pearl clutchers" don't seem to get that people do not want to sit in traffic jams after working 8-hour shifts.
Thanks for proving my point.

If you could drive the 1 hour commute at speed (100km), and drove a car with average fuel consumption, you would burn 80Lof fuel per week, at current rates that's $136 per week or $544 per month. Maybe that would be enough to afford to live closer to work.

Equally, you didn't say you were willing to pay a toll.......you want me to subsidize your commute; that's nice of you to spend my money on your commute. Transit riders pay a fare, but you don't want to pay a toll? If you did at 407 rates, (I'll pick a mid-point number of .80c per km) that would another $80 each way or $160 per day.

Again, if you want to pay that, I support your right to do so; just don't ask me to pay it for you.

It is a good idea, the 401 is already insane, the 407 is a tolled road that's likely not gonna change, and this is the 3rd east west option if you don't count the Gardiner Expressway. Between the 413 and the Bradford bypass, it gives people an option outside the far away gardiner, the overcrowded 401, and the tolled 407, and an option to get across town. The only points I'm interested in proving are my own.

People should be able to work and live were ever thety want without someone dictating any of that to them. I think paying any tolls for highways, especially in the GTA, is stupid. I pay enough for other people as it is in this country.

This highway is overkill.

A 2-lane regional road would have been sufficient for this area. It didn't need to be a 400 series highway.

So on the latter,I don't believe you; and on the former , you wish to freeload on my dime.

Nope. Pay for you own highway.

I disagree, sorry. Toronto needs more options and better solutions to tackle its traffic problems, and I, for one, think less is not best. However, I am convinced that if the 407 were not tolled, it would make a huge difference in traffic on Toronto and GTA highways

Well, if you don't want your tax dollars going to public infrastructure in this country, I suggest you move to idk the moon, I suppose. Canadians pay some of the highest tax rates in the developed world, and even equally higher rates for other things like food, phone, internet, home rent, insurance, gas, etc., so yes, I pay enough, thank you, along with many other people. It's funny listening to people complain about where they want their taxes spent, like they have some sorta choice.
