Ford needs to be asked why he thinks he as a provincial premier is entitled to a private jet with an intercontinental range? What is his justification for this purchase?
The Governor of California Gavin Newsom doesn't have a dedicated private jet. When Newsom flies it is often on California law enforcement aircraft typically a Beechcraft King Air turboprop when not flying commercial. This used to be the practice for Ontario Premiers. They flew on OPP King Airs when commercial was not feasible. The only California governor who flew on a dedicated private jet was Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he flew on his own private Gulfstream jet!
California has a population the size of Canada and an economy way much larger. How can Ontario Premier Doug Ford justify this purchase?

Just days after announcing plans to buy a private jet, Ontario Premier Doug Ford says the province will now move to sell its newly acquired plane, acknowledging concerns about the timing and cost of the purchase.
In a statement to CTV News Sunday morning, Ford said the decision comes after hearing public feedback and reassessing priorities.
“Despite the best of intentions, I have heard and agree that now is not the right time for the expense of a government plane. The province is working with Bombardier and other partners to sell the plane as quickly as possible. I will continue the work of building relationships with business and political leaders, both across Canada and in the United States, to fight tariffs, attract investments and create jobs for Ontario workers.”
The province says it is now working with Bombardier and other partners to offload the aircraft as quickly as possible.
The development marks a reversal from the government’s earlier move to secure the plane, which had been positioned as a tool to support economic outreach and investment efforts.
The process to sell the aircraft is now underway.

The optics of the purchase were so obviously poor, I find it bizarre that no one in the Premier's office had an inkling how this would go over w/the broader public like a lead balloon.
In relative terms is a drop in the bucket of the provincial budget, and the labour training slush fund is a much larger scandal.......
Still.
We'll surely ending up taking a write down on sale.....what's a few million and all that.

I could care less about the jet, it's other things like that slush fund and housing starts that concern me:

The private jet is up there for one of the most out of touch things he's done but comes nowhere close to many of the other scandals in the barrage we've endured.

It is true that other stuff (the corruption re Greenbelt and other development stuff) is FAR worse BUT the plane is easy for 'Mr or Mrs Everyperson" to understand and get pissed off by while they wait for the bus that fails to arrive or pay for the gas to fill their car which is only bought by cutting back on food.

Setting aside optics, which I agree are awful. Is the province owning a private jet that much different from chartering private jets? It's also not at all uncommon in the States, or seemingly for Quebec for that matter.
