To Hydro a week is a normal person's month or more!

Somewhere above someone was obsessing about the old wooden Hydro poles on Queens Quay at Rees/Robertson.

I asked WT and they replied as follows:
"
"Thank you for reaching out to Waterfront Toronto and for sharing your concerns.

For questions or follow-up regarding the remaining poles and wiring along Queen’s Quay, Toronto Hydro has advised that residents connect directly with Shannon Jackson at Toronto Hydro: SJackson@TorontoHydro.com, CCed on the email.'"

I assume that sooner or later they will respond, if/when they do I will post an update but I am sure it will take a while to respond and FAR longer to get the damn wooden poles removed.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. We should coordinate to send repeated emails over a few months — not all at once so it doesn't appear coordinated. She'll get sick of hearing about these poles and expedite their removal. If the Union Station pole isn't gone by the end of April, I'll ask Jack to do a follow up. Shannon will not like seeing her name published in The Toronto Star's The Fixer being associated with failing to fix what Hydro promised to fix.

I believe they are just getting started on painting the concrete blocks as was originally planned, not removing them.

I thought so too but then wondered why they're installing this longer term fencing, bolted into the ground. Painting could have been handled with moveable fencing, it only takes a few hours to dry. In fact, these have been painted at least once before and there was no long term fencing installed. I just went past one day and noticed that all the blocks had been repainted. Also, why only three blocks at a time? These three in particular match the number of bollards on the crosswalk on the York side.

Though Hydro (and TTC and City) are slow to remove old poles and equipment, we should remember that if a pole has any 'attachments' then the pole owner needs to nag the attachment's owner to remove it first. Also, though pole removal is important the installation of new poles is undoubtedly more important and staff are limited. "Shaming' people is occasionally a good tactic but not if over-used.
