Toronto Bloor-Lansdowne GO Station | 6.77m | 1s | Metrolinx | Brown + Storey

Ho boy! Another Metrolinx project just BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING along! You can't stop these guys!
I mean, dont you know they have to do some extremely innovative Quantum Computing and pioneer new concepts for every construction project they undertake?

Completely makes sense to me why construction of stations like this can take upwards of a decade, they're bringing us things which the world has never seen before!

Metrolinx says platform and station building construction will begin in February, according to two construction notices on Metrolinx's website.

So this is projected to be completed September 2026 😳
I think that's extremely unlikely. For most of these projects, it seems some work is done, stopped, then nothing happens again for months.

Yup, absolute 0% chance of a 2026 completion.

(No we absolutely are not).
Agreed, Alto is Pixie Dust pipe dream stuff. But it's nice that people are having hope in it (until the day the bubble finally bursts).

When the day comes where we can finally build basic train stations in less then 5 years from idea conception, that's when i'll believe we'll get infrastructure builds that accommodate electric trains and HSR.

What CDPQ has pulled off in Montreal with REM makes me slightly more hopeful that ALTO might actually be possible. What they have done there is the exact opposite of Metrolinx's machinations.. and most of that team is moving to Alto as REM wraps up.

If Metrolinx was in charge of ALTO I would agree entirely that it was as good as fairy dust. With CDPQ behind it, I'm not so quick to jump to that, though still skeptical given the scale of it.
