Lately I've reported a bunch of dead streetlights to Toronto Hydro. For all the flack we give them about their utility cuts, they're really quick with lights. Every time I filed a report on their site, they had the light fixed on the next business day, or the one after that at most.

In Peel, the instruction is to put pet waste and litter in the garbage. Of course, people do whatever they feel like.

Update on this:
They fixed the barriers along Martin Goodman Trail:
Replacement mesh screens were installed by riveting them in the exact same way that failed with the old screens. Problem solved until the next major snowfall.

If they had insisted on a redesign I bet it would not have happened for several years!

What if they just used a couple more rivets per panel? Maybe that would have only caused a delay of several months?

Lets give a staff a win here.............you reported this on March 9 and by March 25th (or sooner) it was fixed, ~ 2 weeks.
I think staff deserve kudos on that.
A more comprehensive fix is being discussed (ie, getting rid of this barrier design entirely), but that's a big item that will take time and money. But staff are aware of the failings of this design and have no love for it. This was a necessary repair to deal w/the immediate situation.

Speaking of Martin Goodman Trail and shabbiness - does anyone have any lore about this abandoned and fenced off looking castle structure that's close to the Casimir Gzowski Park? On Google Earth it's been fenced off and vacant since 2009. It shows the structure was under construction in the 2007 photo. Has it ever...been anything? Why can't it become something, like a restroom, restaurant or rest area? How can it be allowed to just remain in a state of under construction for close to 20 years...there should be some sort of blight tax.

Hooooo boy, don't get me started on this one.
Really, don't. But here you can find out something about it in this Fixer column from a few years back. The story is egregious and involves the same business/family that holds decades of exclusive rights to food sales in High Park and the western Waterfront.
