I get a bit of a TD Centre vibe from this project. Minus the McDonald's, of course. ;)

a-A out-blands themselves again. They have talent, yet keep repeating versions of buildings they’ve done over and over. Exposed black mechanical level? Really? At least with buildings like Casa II, they created an interesting crown. Being stuck in the modernist box they have put themselves in is really unfortunate. They are capable of so much better, in my opinion.

Sure, there isn't a McDs in the TD centre now...... but there was for what? 25 years? In the west food court. So it would fit in... LOL

Pretty blatant van der Rohe imitation by a-A...

Love it or hate it, minimalist design like this can be difficult to get through approvals due to lack of human scale elements and effective wind mitigation (podiums, canopies, etc).

Very true.

I love this proposal but they'll definitely have to address the base.

Too bad they don't build more towers like this.

unpopular opinion...i find the sleek black tower kinda a good design from far away angle! overall, improvement compare to the previous mid rise proposal!

though...the street grade can be monstrous as it is not "human scale"

Gotta love that soulless aA sterility. It works ok for this area of the city, but when aA brings this repetitive design that they do 100 times over downtown it's downright sterile and depressing.

That lower level design is going to be dreadful for any retail wanting to locate down there. I'll go as far as saying that most retail uses would be DOA.

And one other note, people living here are going to have such fantastic views of all the oil storage containers!

This looks great, I can't believe people are complaining about this design.

Ya, I don't get it. I'm the first person to complain about aA's typical wraparound balcony design, but this is stunning. I love the sleek black look. If executed properly, these really could look like Mies buildings. A balcony-less version of X Condos sounds great to me!
