News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

don't know where to put this but with Toys'R'Us in Dufferin mall closing what store do you think will take over the spot in Dufferin Mall. Personally I think Shoppers Drug Mart or Rexall

Shoppers would be a welcome addition there.

They are somewhat in a druggist void there.

That mall is officially dead to me now. It actually had an interesting variety of retail until recently, but no more.

I browsed BB&B once. I got sticker shock after walking the shabily merchandized store (which was also devoid of customers) and walked out. Turns out charging premium prices for the same mediocre brands as other retailers while looking like a liquidation store is not a good business model.

The merchandise itself was shabby. Once I bought a tablecloth that had so much pilling after a single wash that I had to throw it out.

Galleria Supermarket to open largest store to date in the Greater Toronto area

Galleria Supermarket will officially open its new flagship location, Galleria Supermarket K-Town (300 Steeles Ave W. Thornhill, ON L4J 1A1), on Thursday, March 19. The store marks the 8th Greater Toronto Area (GA) location for the Korean grocer.

As the largest store in Galleria Supermarket’s history, the new K-Town location has been designed as more than a traditional supermarket. The flagship space will offer customers across the Greater Toronto Area a new destination where shopping, dining, culture, and lifestyle come together under one roof.

With its spacious layout and expanded offerings, Galleria Supermarket K-Town aims to serve as a new K-Hub for the GTA, introducing Korean food and culture to a wider audience in an accessible and engaging environment.

The new store will feature fresh produce, a wide selection of grocery and household products, and several specialty concepts that reflect Galleria’s experience and expertise in Korean retail.

Among its key highlights is Galleria’s largest deli kitchen, where meals will be prepared fresh daily using quality ingredients and established recipes. The store will also include Yeowoo, a beauty retail space offering popular K-beauty brands, best-selling products, and trend-forward items.

The K-Town branch will also introduce Galleria Avenue, a food court designed for customers of all ages. Featured vendors include Kenzo Ramen, Myungpoom Seolleongtang, Woojoo Bunsik, and a Bûngopang café, creating a diverse dining experience that reflects the growing popularity of Korean and Asian food culture in the GTA.

In addition, the flagship store will feature a cooking class studio equipped with 12 individual kitchen stations, along with the first Canadian location of Ediya Coffee, one of Korea’s best-known coffeehouse brands.

Ahead of the official opening, Galleria invited employees and their families for an early preview of the new space. The company also provides approximately 100 VIPs and selected membership customers the opportunity to experience the store prior to opening day. Feedback gathered through these preview programs will help further enhance the overall customer experience.

“K-Town is meaningful not only because it is the largest store Galleria has opened to date, but because it will serve as a gateway for sharing Korean food, culture, and lifestyle more broadly across the GTA,” said a Galleria representative. “We hope this new flagship location will become a welcoming destination for both the Korean community and the wider local community.”
