Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I can’t remember where I got it or how accurate it is, but I heard the other Teamways (and all entrances) will be renovated when the platforms are reconfigured.

Would love to see the bay west Teamway integrated into the concourse better, there’s an incredible amount of dead space there
I really hope you are right, with all the money spent on Union over the past decade, you'd think a refresh of the old teamways to something like we have on Bay East would be a no-brainer!

Yes, I too have read that all the teamways are in for an upgrade - one day!

The USEP project page on the city AIC page got updated with a bunch of new documents.

Haven’t had a chance to browse through them yet, however I noticed the platform level and canopy designs are being modified, with updated plans to be released this month. Value engineering time?

New documents are listed under supporting documentation, all new files were uploaded in January of this year: https://www.toronto.ca/city-governm...1425&pid=206955&title=61-71-FRONT-ST-W-(REAR)

I mean the current designs of the southern rail level and canopy look extremely value engineered already:

I thought the track layouts for the existing tracks have not been finalised. Though, I do love seeing your designs @WB62 ! And also, the canopy cannot be changed as it has heritage designation?

Apologies, maybe I'm mistaken!

They were already bare bones. So I choose optimism and that they may be getting some design flare suitable of our country's main train station.

Can you add an up to date link to your post please. Thanks.

Browsing the updated files now, will post more findings later. AIC link here

what is that middle track for shown in the rendering? Some sort of freight bypass?
I've done my best to squish this image so you can see the full length. As you can see, one platform will terminate and the track that looks like a bypass will actually line up with a platform on the east end.

The planner here and I need to have a conversation about file labels.

4 files market 'correspondence' are all way finding/signage.

Almost 2 full pages of 'linked document' files is not helpful.

Good to see escalators to platform 26/27

For those wishing to muddle through the docs, the renders are in the 4th 'Linked Document' (from the top) if you place the files in date/time order. (its actually null-8 when you download)

If you are among the signage obsessed these files are for you, they're all there.

Someone can double check me, but thus far I see only the one escalator set its off to the Bay St. side. Given that a lot of people would prefer escalators to stairs, I wonder if this wouldn't contribute to unbalanced passenger loads on platformers.

I believe the next phase of Union Station work should be the Union Station Streetcar loop. And at the risk of scope creep the Bay St corridor from Front to Lakeshore could be added to the project. I'm thinking alternate (southern) exits from the street car loop, etc.

Added!

You’re correct, it’s the only escalator involved in this project. Its purpose and placement is likely to help the uneven crowd distribution on the eastern platforms.

This is the first entrance 20 coaches worth of people will have access to, and the distribution of riders on Lakeshore East trains is weighted more heavily towards the engine, so theres gonna be a lot of people using it.
