Vancouver Transit Developments

Daily Hive story on it:
I gotta say, it's so cool Translink has confirmed that their standard buses will be three doors, and their artics will be four doors.

I guess they took a message from Toronto's streetcars, and all-door boarding will become a thing on their version of our streetcar network, ie. trolleybuses. ❤️

The spacing of the doors looks different than the white standard Euro version shown in the 2023 test pics, but that must be due to interior seating preferences. Curious what the seating plan is.
There's been all door boarding on the B-line / rapid bus routes for years.

It may have to do with a front wheelchair position. The bus for Vancouver has the ramp at the front door instead of middle like most other European buses.

An interior view from the same source.

I think @Northern Light will like this layout.

You can see how narrow the aisle is for the low floor bus' wheel wells, plus a big bulkhead on the left rear, so the 3rd door makes sense.

This is a really common design for fully low floor buses. The drivetrain is offset to the left of the rear. Nova Bus and Orion previously offered this design in Canada and the US.

The interesting thing with this trolleybus is that compartment houses traction batteries and the traction motor is ahead of the rear axle.
